"I had roof damage along the eves from heavy snow last winter. My home is in McCall. I called several local roofers, and they appeared to be too busy to call me back. I used Angi's list for the first time and E&H contacted me. They added my repairs to other jobs they had in McCall. They kept me informed and got the job done. E&H honored their estimate and did an excellent job. They will be my first call for any roofing needs in the future."

"Kings Roofing was amazing! We had several companies bid the job but Kings took the time to inspect our house and find the best solution for us. They gave us several good options and worked with us to find the best one. They went above and beyond and even helped us fix other issues at no additional cost. They were quick and did a great job. I appreciated the great communication and pictures of the progress since I couldn't be there during the work. I was also really impressed at how well they cleaned up. They did a great job and I'm very happy with the new roof."

"Troy showed up every day when he said he would be there. He tore off my old shake roof from the 60's and then reroofed. Roof was done on schedule. He was polite and courteous. I was pleased with the experience. Especially since he was meticulous and respectful of my yard. My roof looks really awesome. People stopped entire time he was working on my roof asking for a business card. "It's a Master Piece""

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Removing snow from your roof can help prevent ice dams, but the best thing to do is address insulation issues in your attic. If you do decide to remove the snow manually, you should always use a roof rake rather than a shovel. You shouldn’t climb your snowy roof in any circumstance, and roof rake allows you to remove the snow from the ground or a ladder. For the best results, remove snow as soon as possible after it falls.

Single-ply roofing lasts for between 15 and 30 years, depending on the type you install and the climate in your area. TPO roofing has the shortest lifespan of 15 to 30 years, followed by PVC, which lasts for 20 to 30 years. EPDM roofing is the longest-lasting single-ply roofing option, with a lifespan of 30 to 40 years. Keep in mind that hail, strong winds, blown debris, and foot traffic can all reduce how long your flat roof lasts.

The most common slope range for roofs on houses in snowy areas is between 4/12 and 6/12, or 50%. A roof with a slope of less than 10%, or roughly a 2/12 pitch, won’t be effective at shedding snow. However, roofs that are too steep can allow large amounts of snow to build up and fall all at once, creating a hazard for those on the ground.

Depending on the condition of your roof, you may be able to add flashing to it. If you’re looking for a way to maintain its integrity while saving some money, you should ask a roofing pro if this is an option. Keep in mind that if your roof is in poor shape, a full replacement may be necessary before flashing is installed.

There are several pros and cons of flat roofs. One disadvantage of flat roofs is that you lose potential attic space because it's flat. Flat roofs tend to pool water and because they lack an angle, any leak in the roof—usually due to a bad seal—has the potential to let in a lot of water. They don’t work well in climates with snow. Flat roofs are also structurally weaker than sloped roofs.
