Customers say: Quick response

"Devin, the owner, was a pleasure to work with. He is a certified arborist and really knows what he is doing. He gave recommendations about what trees to prune and/or remove based on their overall health and structure. He was an excellent communicator and was on site for at least part of the day his professional crew were working here. He truly cares about his customers experience and welcomes feedback. His prices were competitive and I will definitely be using Chandler Tree Service again."

Customers say: Quality work

"This was the first company to respond and I decided to hire them. Their estimate was very close to the others. A small amount of damage was done when felling the trees but it was minor and they did the repairs in a timely manner and very professionally. I like the guys who did the work. I had 3 trees taken out and they were all very big and close to the house. John kept in contact with me throughout the whole job. I would hire them again."

"If you want hard workers that are professional and at the same time personal, this is the company to go with! Joshua and his team are quick, efficient, and thorough. He took down five dead aspen trees for me and pruned and shaped a crab apple. The clean up was so thorough and complete. He also fit us in just five days after the estimate. The price was much lower than any other estimate we had. I"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Tree roots are hearty and complex systems, so they don’t die immediately after the rest of the tree is removed. If you leave the root system in place, it takes anywhere from two to seven years for it to run out of nutrients. It is worth noting, however, that the roots stop growing and expanding after cutting down the rest of the tree.

Surface-level tree roots might only pose a small threat, such as being a tripping hazard or obstacle when you mow your lawn. But if mature tree roots start growing in the direction of your home’s foundation or plumbing system, it could be a real problem. Cutting small tree roots out before they grow too large can keep your home safe without removing the whole tree.

Steer clear of the area and contact your utility company immediately. It will have a website portal and/or a phone number to report downed trees and electrical issues. If the tree appears to be on public land, you may want to call your local government and report the issue there, too.

You may be looking to identify maple trees to use for home improvement projects. In that case, you can tell hard maples by looking at their leaves. Leaves will have a U-shaped dip, or sinus, between the points, or lobes, of the leaves. Leaves of soft maples tend to have V-shaped sinuses.

If you already have the cut wood in front of you, look for a light, uniform color to identify hard maple wood and check for variations of red, gray, or brown streaks and an overall darker color in soft maple wood.

It depends. Smaller, younger trees take longer to mature, but they're more resilient, their roots don't get as damaged during transplanting, and they recover faster. Plus, they're much more affordable to plant, and it's possible to DIY the planting.

On the other hand, mature trees produce fruit faster and provide more shade and privacy immediately. Ideally, a small or medium tree is the better choice if you can wait a few years for it to mature. But if you need immediate maturity, a larger tree is the only option.
