"My experience with this business is top notch. I can't say enough good points about Idaho Fireplace and Chimney! He saved me! My only heat source in my home is my wood stove. I was told by another fireplace company in Boise that I couldn't install a new wood stove, it wasn't possible to replace my existing wood stove (pretty sure they didn't want to do the work and just sell me a pellet stove). Richie made it happen. I got a new stove and new liner and for a reasonable price. It was probably more work than he realized, but he was gracious and polite and professional. He made happen what SEVEN other companies said they would not or could not do. Thank you so much! I'm so happy and I want your business to thrive and I know it is...because you are the best in the Valley! Hire them today for an inspection/cleaning. Had I hired them years ago to inspect or clean my stove, I probably would have found out sooner the problem I had and not wasted a bunch of time on other companies."

"Great response, very knowledgeable - even the company who installed my legacy 26 yr old system didn't know where the filters went (A1 Heating) yet the tech at Tully's knew exactly where. Very professional presentation and speedy install. I didn't get another quote as I was so impressed with them. Even if they are more expensive it's worth dealing with a quality company who knows what they are doing."

"I met with Jonathan to assess the deck and he made a number of suggestions as to how we should proceed. After reviewing the options, he proposed a number of alternatives along with the price of each.  He ended up repairing a section of the deck that had rotted, sanded and cleaned all the wood, including the benches and pickets (by hand), and re-staining the whole thing.  The entire effort to 5 days, but the deck looks great.

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

A quality pellet stove that receives proper maintenance can last between 15 and 20 years, while most will last at least 10 years. The exact lifespan depends on factors like frequency of use and how well the stove is cared for. Proper maintenance—such as periodically cleaning the vents, vacuuming the ash pan, and refreshing the pellets as needed—can significantly extend its life, making it a worthwhile long-term investment.

To reset an electric fireplace, first shut the unit off using the control panel or remote control. Make sure the unit is entirely shut down, then unplug it from the power outlet. Wait five to 10 minutes, then plug the fireplace back in and turn it on. This process should reset the electric fireplace. After resetting, make sure to set the thermostat, timer, and other programmable settings to suit your preferences.

Yes, removing a chimney is a difficult and major undertaking. Chimneys often provide structural support to a home, so if it's a load-bearing structure, you'll need to take extra precautions to maintain your home's integrity. A project of this complexity typically requires a structural engineer, a masonry contractor, and a demolition crew. The removal process may involve taking the chimney out brick by brick from inside the walls. The cost for chimney removal can range from $2,000 to $10,000, depending on the job's complexity. Due to the difficulty and cost, some homeowners opt to remove the fireplace and seal the chimney at the top and bottom, sometimes also removing the visible exterior portion at the roofline.

The cost to clean and inspect an oil-fired chimney generally ranges from $150 to $500. The price is influenced by factors such as the chimney's height, the level of soot buildup, local labor costs, and whether any additional repairs or liner replacements are required.

Yes, if your gas fireplace has a flue, you typically need to open it when using the fireplace. Although gas fireplaces don’t produce the type of smoke and soot that wood-burning ones do, they still release combustion gasses like carbon monoxide. Opening the flue ensures these gasses safely exit your home through the chimney. Not all gas fireplaces need a chimney, however. Always check the manufacturer’s instructions for your specific gas fireplace model, as some newer models may have different ventilation requirements.
