"Ray replaced all the rusting galvanized pipes in our house and installed a new water service line from the meter to our house. I was impressed by his professionalism and concern for our welfare. I also appreciative that Ray: -Recruited additional plumbers so that all the corroding pipes were removed and replaced in just two days. He made sure that we were never without water in the evening. - Made improvements in our plumbing to avoid future issues. -Took the lead in securing reasonably priced, and quality contractors to repair holes in our walls and to dig a trench for the new service line. This was especially helpful because good contractors were hard to find during the building. -Worked directly with water company technicians to insure the functionality of the finished system. -Carefully preserved and replaced sod during the installation of the new service line so that restoration of our lawn was immediate. -Taught me how to correct leaks in our toilets. -Always responded promptly. Ray's experience and commitment to his customers were evident throughout the project. I highly recommend him!"

"We hired the Dirt Brothers to do a full septic and drain field replacement at our residence. They were the best price and went above and beyond in their customer service and product delivery. This two man team were wonderful to work with and did everything they could to make this unfortunate situation better for us. I would definitely recommend them to anyone else needing septic and excavating work"

"Called yesterday to set up appointment for an estimate on a couple things I needed done. One was to put a water shut off valve somewhere that I didn't need to crawl under the house. The other I needed my toilet fixed. Brent H came out yesterday, gave me an estimate and installed a water shutoff valve and fixed my toilet. Brent was very professional and so fast I was amazed he finished so quickly. Perfect plumbing and heating is amazing and so is Brent!"

Toilets questions, answered by experts

When working on your bathroom floor tiling, you should always tile the floor first and then refit the toilet afterward. This has both practical and visual advantages—the tile will have a better seal, and the installation will look cleaner.

On the other hand, when you try to cut the tiles to fit around the toilet, you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage. It’s a lot more work, it’s hard to be precise, and mistakes or miscalculations can lead to future moisture damage to the tiling, grout, and subfloor.

There are a few ways to unclog a toilet without a plunger. Break up the clog with homemade solutions containing soap, vinegar, and baking soda, or simply let hot water spend some time in the drain. You can also use a two-liter soda bottle filled with water to push pressurized water into the pipe to dislodge the debris (see the steps above).

To drain a broken toilet, place towels or plastic sheeting around the base in case of splashing or overflowing. Next, shut off the toilet’s water supply, usually via a valve on the wall behind the toilet. Begin flushing the handle to remove as much water as possible from the tank and the bowl. Don’t flush the toilet if it’s clogged, though. From there, use a large sponge to soak up any remaining water and wring it over a bucket.

Yes, a bathroom remodel is a worthwhile home improvement project that typically adds value to your home, offering a return on investment (ROI) between 60% and 70%. Potential buyers look closely at bathrooms and kitchens, as these are often the most expensive rooms to renovate. A modern, updated bathroom is more appealing and assures buyers that the plumbing, fixtures, and flooring have a long, useful life ahead. Beyond the financial return, a remodel can also greatly increase your day-to-day satisfaction by creating a more inviting, spa-like space. Even a basic refresh with new paint and accessories can make a significant difference.

Yes, you can fill your toilet tank manually to help it flush, or you can pour the water directly into the bowl to flush it manually. This will work for the majority of toilets, as most use a gravity feed system. However, you should only ever use this as a temporary solution. If your toilet tank isn’t filling, you should find out why. First, make sure the speedy valve connected to your toilet and your water main are open. If that doesn’t solve the issue, call in a professional to address the problem.
