Western Mechanical has been heating and cooling Cache Valley Homes for over 36 years. Since 1971, Western Mechanical, Inc. began serving the people and businesses of Cache Valley with heating, venting and air conditioning. The business was created by Milford John Egbert, with the influence of his youngest son Jack Egbert, as Egbert Heating. The two men worked out of a car port for their first few years before renting their first shop, then built their own shop in 1974. Milford retired in 1977 turning the business over to his boys. In 1994 the business name, Egbert Heating. was changed to Western Mechanical Incorporated. Today Western Mechanical is in its 3rd Generation. Western Mechanical, Inc. in Logan, Utah services residential homes and commercial businesses in the Cache Valley area which includes all of the towns from Avon, Paradise and Hyrum on the south to Smithfield, Richmond and Lewiston on the north. Western Mechanical, Inc. is expanding to serve towns in Idaho (Franklin and Preston) and in to Wyoming.

We had a major job as the whole house was being redone. I was formally the general contractor for the project and they worked nicely along with and around the other contractors. "this company was a no show. I stayed home all day waiting, he called 5 minutes before he was to arrive and said he had gotten hung up on another job and would come about noon. At 130 having not shown up, i called and left a message. No response. Called Angi phone number. Now I'm struggling with not being able to know who the new company is, they are coming Monday, Angi has my money. I don't know if the replacement person will know what I want worked on in advance. Not happy about all this!"

You should vacuum the ash pan every week to prevent overflowing and clean the stove and surrounding vents every three to four months. Be sure to dispose of hot ashes in a closed metal container; store it outside, away from the house. Only use the pellets recommended by your stove's manufacturer, and follow any cleaning and maintenance instructions.

When your fireplace is not in use for longer periods of time, such as over the summer, you can keep smells at bay by spraying either a commercial fireplace deodorizing product or a blend of one part distilled white vinegar to one part water around the walls of the fireplace. 

Or, you can place a container of charcoal inside the fireplace to absorb odors. Just be sure to remove it before it’s time to start using the fireplace again.

There are six main choices of fireplace inserts: wood-burning, gas, propane, pellet, electric, and coal. Coal fireplace inserts aren’t as popular as they once were because burning coal emits a lot of carbon monoxide. Any fireplace insert will require proper supervision, and it’s a good idea to install a carbon monoxide detector in the room for added safety.

If you have a gas fireplace, you should be able to see a vent exiting the fireplace directly to the outside of your home. You may also see gas lines leading to the fireplace. If the firebox in the fireplace is completely empty, it’s a wood-burning fireplace. There should be no burners or igniters in the fireplace.
