Great.

I've had two Toyota Prius's, and Phil Meador has done a great job of
maintaining them. I also greatly appreciate their sales staff (Joe,
particularly) who tend not to use high pressure. The Prius is the best
car I've ever owned!

The dealership service department wanted $440.00 to repair the part that was associated with the recall. When we advised that the part had not been broken when they performed the recall we did not feel this charge was reasonable nor our responsibility as we felt the part had been damaged during the replacement due to the factory recall. We have not resolved this issue to date and the car has not been repaired for this particular problem. We have used this dealership numerous times over the past decade and have always been satisfied with their service and repairs. However they have had the habit of replacing things such as windshield wipers without consent, which at a dealership can be much more expensive than replacing them yourself. Overall we have been satisfied with their service and will continue to use them, but we always make sure they call us before any type of work outside of the original scope is done.

Car dealers are car dealers. However, I found it very easy to deal with Phil Meador when I bought my first new car (a 2010 Toyota Prius). True I had a substantial down payment, but the salesman was polite. This was a slow sales period, so I was able to easily get dealer invoice for the car.
I don't have anything exceptional to make note of and that's good news with a major purchase. It was a smooth transaction, their service department was always extremely efficient and clean. I have also had a good experience dealing with Toyota Financial Services who is carrying the note on the car. They were really easy to work with when I was briefly unemployed and helped me avoid having a missed payment reported to the credit bureaus.
All in all, a pleasant experience and I love that smug Prius feeling!

After the safety check was complete, the salesperson came out with a form that indicated that there was a major leak of coolant and engine oil from a failed head gasket. The repair for the head gasket was quoted at $1600. Since I had never had a problem with leaking oil or overheating, I asked them if it was safe to drive the car to another service center for a second opinion. He said that he wouldn't recommend driving the car. I drove it to another mechanic, who found a missing clip on one coolant hose and no other problems with the engine. He saw no evidence that would have lent itself to a misdiagnosis of a leaking head gasket and no major leak of oil, although the coolant was leaking because there was a missing clip. Either the mechanic at Phil Meador was embarrassingly incompetent or malicious, either way I will never be going back to their service department for any reason, including warranty service.

I went to Phil Meador Subaru after having a bad experience at another local import dealer, and got thorough, considerate customer service rather than a hard sell. The salesman took me on an extended test drive after listening to my concerns about engine size and dealing with mountainous areas; he showed me all the details of the car and the test drive included an area with a steep incline so that I could see how the car handled. I was very pleased, and upon understanding my intent to purchase the car, the dealer's representative did all possible to get the best deal possible. Their finance division was very patient with all my questions and worked very hard to come up with a reasonable number for the sale. Since the sale, they have followed up with me a few times to check that the car was working out for me, a small detail that means a lot.
All in all, the experience was very positive, and the car is great! Extremely pleased overall.
