Chewelah Painting was started in Chewelah in 2008 after relocating to Eastern WA, from Southeast Alaska. For years we have focused on delivering the highest standard of paint, stain, and special coatings for homeowners, builders, and business owners. Eastern Washington is our service area, from the Canadian Boarder to Dusty and Idaho to Omak. We serve the residential, commercial, government, tribal, and agricultural markets of Spokane, Stevens, Pend Orielle, Ferry, Okanogon, Lincoln, and Whitman Counties. We also accept large scale and difficult to access custom home re-paints, large scale deck sanding & refinishing and large scale home or log staining projects at Lake Coeur d’Alene and Priest Lake. As a company, Chewelah Painting is committed to constantly raising the skill level of our employees, and maintain a companywide training and feedback program. We are know for lasting re-paints. A repaint is any paint job after the first. With a repaint comes lots of surface preparation. Washing to remove dirt and contaminants without damaging substrates or property, scraping to remove loose and failing paint, refastening trim boards, caulking and sealing for weather and appearance, priming bare substrates and questionable surfaces for proper adhesion and longevity, applying the appropriate amount of paint in thickness and number of coats, all play into why our paint jobs last as long as possible. Our deck teams are employees whose only job is to sand and refinish your deck and make it look awesome again, with our dust free sanding equipment. Once complete we can maintain that look for a fraction of the cost so you deck is always Barbecue ready. This is the only process we know of to give you the longest amount of life out of your deck coatings, whether it is paint or stain. Chewelah Painting refinishes log homes inside and out. Our employees are trained and certified by Perma Chink on their recommended coatings application and processes. Our carpentry Division can install new siding, repair rot, fix broken facia boards, install a new door or window, flash a leaking window, build a new deck or fence. On the inside, we can install trims or crown moldings, install new doors for a fresh new look. Working with a single contractor on your repairs prior to painting means better schedule coordination, back to normal faster, and ensures everything meets our standards for quality and longevity.

We are able to complete any project a customer requests--from new floor trim to a complete remodel. All of our employees and subs are background checked. We have licensed electricians and plumbers so we are able to coordinate the job from beginning to end in as little time as possible. We have a designer we work closely with that we are able to bring in on any job as needed. We are set up as installers at two Home Depot stores so if a customer needs financing they can run the complete project through the Home Depot as well for an additional option. There is an innitial fee of $50.00 plus tax to go out and look at the project. If the customer decides to proceed with the project the $50.00 charge is reimbursed to them through the job. There is a minimum fee of $100.00 for a service call. We have been in business since 1997 and have stayed busy enough that we have never put our business in the phome book--most of our business is word of mough. We have many repeat customers.

Handyman Solutions (of Spokane) was started in July of 2007 and is locally owned & operated. Specializing in residential & commercial repairs & remodels. We know we're only as good as our last job and nothing promotes our business better than word of mouth. Our business has grown from our clients telling their friends. Real Estate agents telling their clients & co-workers. From changing a door handle and patching a wall, to full kitchen and bath remodels. We pride ourselves on showing up on time for our scheduled appointments or at least calling if we're running behind. Call us today, you'll be glad you did.

"Horrible. Unfortunately, I can not recommend this business. Poor communication between employees and invoicing. Which resulted in way over priced job. Very misleading. We were charged a little over $735 for 4 small drywall fixes. If you use them, I HIGHLY recommend the owner come and give you a written estimate instead of picture and over the phone quote. We didn’t think we would be paying over $200 or so for these small fixes. Also, The employees were nice And respectable, and put our handrail back up for us for free, also did one more VERY small drywall patch (this we didn’t even notice until they left because it wasn’t mentioned to fix in the first place). When the owner found out, he said basically we should be grateful that wasn’t included in bill because the invoice would have gone up to over $1000 with tax. Anyone else I asked said we were very overcharged for the work done. The owner finally said he would “work with us” and we asked if he would take $600 instead- (giving us Only $135 off which wasn’t nearly enough anyway) he then asked if we could go ahead and pay the almost $40+ In taxes too. so we ended up getting our bill lowered only $100. Just not worth it. Communication is key. Over $600 is a rip off for 4 small dry patches-learn from us and Get a written statement before using this specific company!!!!"

Capstone has a staff of 50+ employees. We are locally owned and have been in business since 1990. We are preferred providers with several insurance companies due to our reputation and reliable service. Our goal is complete customer satisfaction and quality workmanship.

"Capstone Construction is still practicing this: I left negative reviews online, on my FB, on Google etc. They sent a letter to us threatening to charge us a $100.00 a day if we and our friends do not delete the negative reviews. They stated it was on their contract that we signed. It was during an emergency, our basement was flooded. We called Capstone and as I had the phone on speaker, I asked what the cost would be if they came to pump the water out. I was told since its after hours, it would be $90.00 an hour. When they arrived there was 18 inches of water in our basement. Before they got started they handed my husband the contract. My husband quickly signed it so that they would begin pumping the water out. On the back page, it was in their contract that negative reviews would cost $100.00 a day, added to our bill. They over charged us approx. 3x the cost quoted, and they blatantly lied on their response to the Attorney General. This company is dirty, they have intimidated consumers not to write poor reviews. It is apparent that this is their regular practice, if a company did good, fair, honest work, they wouldn't have to put that clause on the back of their contract...I do not recommend them, the flood and loss was bad enough, then we find out we hired a crooked unethical company that will, intimidate, lie and cheat the consumer."

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

If you’re debating whether to paint the walls or ceiling first, let us settle it for you. Painting the ceiling first is key—that way, you won’t have to worry about paint drips. Always start at the top of the room and work your way down for best results.

You technically can paint wires in a basement ceiling, but there are several important safety and code considerations. It's safe to paint non-metallic sheathed cable as long as the labeling remains visible. You can also paint low-voltage wires and conduit and junction boxes to help them blend into your basement.

However, you should not paint damaged or deteriorated wiring is a fire hazard because it poses a fire hazard. The same goes for painting over high-heat wires that connect to heat-generating appliances or systems. Be sure to avoid painting multiple coats onto any wires, as that traps heat and poses fire risks.

While it may surprise you, the best time to paint the interior of your home is not during the warm open-window months, but rather during the late fall or even winter. This is because the cooler months offer ideal humidity conditions for painting. Lower humidity and cooler temperatures means faster drying time and better paint adhesion.

Yes, painting textured walls is harder than painting standard walls. All the uneven textures make it challenging to get adequate coverage and can leave you with small, bare sections if you’re not meticulous with your painting technique. Textured walls also often require a third paint coat to ensure total coverage, increasing the project time and cost.

Yes, windows being painted shut is a fire hazard. Because windows painted shut may have locks that stick or cannot be opened easily in an emergency, this becomes an immediate fire hazard that should be dealt with.
