"Received quote and paid $2429.90 deposit. 1 week before scheduled pickup, they called and re-assessed the number of items in the house and bumped up the estimate by $4149. I cancelled the service because I had donated 25% of my house to charity and there were less items to move. However, they did not return my deposit of $2429.90 because they said that I did not cancel in time. They have pulled the bait and switch routine on others (B&B complaints). I would not advise anyone to use them for your moving services !!"

"First I will start with the movers themselves. They were the positive. They did a good job. The negative was the service from the office and the owner himself. We were moving from a rental 3 bedroom townhome in Ankeny to a new hone we purchased in Johnston. We also have a storage unit in Monroe that needed to be moved to the new home as well. My wife filled out all of the info online for what we had. We do have a good amount of items for a 3 bedroom place. We moved to Iowa two years ago with a packed full 26 foot truck. I thought there was a good chance that two loads would be needed. But that was never asked to us. The guys got there on time and went through the inventory of everything. Also went through what they had listed that was at our storage. No issues. They got everything loaded and it was clear that with the way it was packed, the truck would needed to be unloaded at the new house and then to the storage to load that. Extra money out of our pocket but we needed to get it all. On the way to the new home, my wife gets an email that the crew was booked in the afternoon and that the storage would have to be done at another time. I called the office to ask about this because this was ridiculous to me. No sorry was said. She just kept telling me about how it was my wife’s fault and that she didn’t list things correctly. “On our list, it should have easily fit on the truck.” HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Again, we moved all of our items across country on a 26’ truck so I know it fits. The the owner called me and it was the same thing. Just kept blaming my wife. The crew went over the inventory and the. The list for the storage which was correct. But somehow it was my wife’s fault. And no sorry. They couldn’t even get the storage for a few days later. No thank you!! Not giving another dime to this company and I urge you not to as well unless you want extremely poor service from the owner himself!!!"

"The two young men that loaded our truck were very friendly and respectful. However, the loading job was extremely poor. When we arrived at our destination, the movers who unloaded (also with Two Men and a Truck) stated numerous times how terrible the packing job was. All heavy furniture was placed on top of boxes and totes, completely crushing many of the boxes. We had a damaged wagon, elliptical, sitting room chair set and more. I reported this to the company immediately. I was offered a $250 refund. I explained that the damage was not the potential fault of the moving vehicle or driver; that had the truck been loaded properly and boxes not crushed by heavy furniture, damage would have been mitigated. This office manager was unwilling to do anything further. Please note- Two Men and a Truck Urbandale does not stand behind their work and if you have damaged items, you have zero recourse. Very unsatisfied with the way this office conducts business and treats their customers."

Yes, many office moving costs are tax deductible, but only businesses are eligible to deduct moving expenses on their taxes. Personal moves, such as relocating for a new job or moving from an apartment to a house, are not deductible. 

However, not all business taxes are deductible by that business. Deductible business moving expenses are limited to the direct costs associated with relocating office supplies and equipment. This process encompasses brokerage fees for securing a new location, space surveys, packing, loading, transportation, and unpacking. Costs related to moving employees or other indirect expenses are not eligible for tax deductions.

First, snap some photos of the piano so you can prove if damage happens during the move. Second, secure the lid and wrap it in bubble wrap and furniture blankets ahead of the move (especially if movers aren’t handling this step for you). Third, if you aren’t sure about tight spaces, take measurements and check your gaps to make sure clearance won’t be an issue. On the day of the move, keep kids and pets far away from the movers and piano to avoid accidents.

It is certainly possible to move a piano without hiring movers, but it’s not recommended. Not only will you need at least four people to lift and maneuver the piano, but getting it around tight corners and down flights of stairs might not be possible without the help of movers. Plus, pianos are exceptionally heavy and bulky, which means you and any helping hands are at risk of injury, as well as an increased risk of damaging your piano. Ultimately, it’s always worth it to call in a professional piano mover.

Yes, moving a piano often causes it to become out of tune, even if you're not moving the piano very far. One reason is that any temperature and humidity changes can affect a piano's tuning. Additionally, the bumps and jolts from a moving truck usually push a piano out of tune. 

However, don't jump right to tuning it once the piano gets to your new home. Instead, it's best to wait at least two weeks for the instrument to acclimate to its new environment. After a couple weeks, you'll get an idea of what the piano will really sound like in its new home, at which point you can call a piano technician to get it properly tuned.

Ask them how many houses they’ve moved, how long they’ve been in business, whether they coordinate all of the labor, permits, and subcontractors needed, and what their liability is for any damages incurred.
