All of the staff at West Music in Coralville are very helpful and accomodating! In the past, we have enrolled our daughter (now 5 years old) in Kindermusik. The instructors were both amazing with the young children! We are now enrolled in weekly individual piano and guitar lessons, which are convenient and well taught. Prior to starting the individual lessons, we needed to buy a 1/2 sized guitar. The staff in the guitar/drum area were very helpful and explained their string replacement policy and helped us learn how to tune the guitar. If you are new to any type of musical instruction, I would highly recommend West Music and their staff!

Technician was knowledgeable and answered a variety of questions related to piano moving, need for service after move and relative value of piano if replaced rather than accepting cost of move.

from 2005 - 2011:

Piano Tuning and Repair - have used both Jeremy and Matt. Both do an excellent job on my Steinway grand. Piano is old and well traveled, and needed work. They provided clear estimate, and break down of work in order of importance (felting, leveling hammers....)

Band instrument repair and maintenance - clarinet, flute, trumpet: clear estimates, timely work. They know their stuff.

Music Instruction - guitar, clarinet, tuba, trumpet and flute. Teachers are independent contractors and have varied in quality from superbly wonderful to ordinary. Definitely a good place to look for instruction. If you have specific needs, I recommend talking with their music lesson coordinator to try to find a good match (and you can switch teachers if you need to).

We've used West Music (both Matt and Jeremy) for the last 5 years. In addition to regular tuning, they performed wonderful maintenance work on our 40 year old Steinway. It needed a lot of attention when it arrived back in US (via hot slow boat from Asia). They've cleaned, adjusted & softened hammers etc. Highly recommend!
