"This company is obviously nationwide and hires local contractors.  I trusted Agies List that all contractors are licensed, bonded and have background checks.  This person was a handyman and not qualified to wall mount, conceal wires, add electrical outlet.  He  spend five hours in my home, for a job that should have taken two hours and left the area in a disaster.  The TV was hung close to the ceiling, the wires were hanging down from the TV, and the receiver was sitting on top of a plaster box because the cord was too short.  He was obviously not qualified to install TV wall mounts.  I have photos.    As soon as he left, I called Best Buy Geek Squad.  They were able to come out the next day and mount the TV professionally.  I have used the geek squad in Virginia and they are highly qualified.  They charge more than this nationwide company but you get what you pay for.  I called Angies List the day after the disaster and said i did not want to rate this company but I wanted to talk to a manager. No one called me to apologize. I have cancelled my membership.  Do not use this company unless you can be assured that the local contractor is qualified and is licensed.  You should never let anyone into your home that has not had background checks.

"Prompt and efficient. He was not able to fix my microwave, as it was too far gone, but he did install my new microwave into the cabinet for me. Very reasonably priced. Would definitely call on him again."

"There were many things wrong in my computer (my fault and letting grandchildren on computer) Robert was so helpful, gave me many good instructions to keep everything safe, which I have written down, feel like I have a new computer. He was so excellent and experienced, took his time and was meticulous about what needed to be done. He was a pleasure to work with and I will use this company again! Linda Disy"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Shenandoah, start spring by checking for winter-related damage to outdoor outlets and testing GFCI receptacles. In summer, inspect air conditioning circuits and outdoor lighting. Fall is ideal for sealing exterior electrical boxes and reviewing furnace wiring. During winter, monitor space heater usage and test smoke detectors. Monthly GFCI testing and an annual inspection by a local electrician help keep your home safe year-round.

Helpful?

In Shenandoah, if you notice persistent flickering lights, circuit breakers that trip repeatedly, buzzing sounds from outlets, or a burning odor, these are strong signs of electrical issues—especially in older homes common to the area. If the issue is isolated to a single appliance or is accompanied by water leaks, it may be plumbing or appliance-related. For safety, always consult a local electrical professional for an assessment.

Helpful?

Shenandoah’s cold winters and humid summers can strain electrical panels, wiring, and outdoor outlets. Freezing temperatures may cause exterior conduit damage, while summer storms can lead to power surges or downed lines. Scheduling electrical upgrades or repairs during the milder spring and fall months helps avoid weather delays and ensures your system is prepared for the seasonal extremes typical in Shenandoah.

Helpful?

The durability of electrical work in Shenandoah depends on using weather-resistant wiring, proper grounding, and surge protection to handle local storms and temperature swings. Adhering to Shenandoah’s building codes and planning for future electrical needs are essential. Regular inspections and prompt repairs, especially in homes over 30 years old, help maintain system safety and reliability for years to come.

Helpful?

Be cautious of unusually low estimates, requests for cash-only payments, or professionals who rush your decision. In Shenandoah, reputable electricians provide detailed written quotes, explain permit requirements, and offer references from local projects. Avoid anyone who hesitates to discuss code compliance or lacks a physical presence in the community. Prioritize professionals who clearly outline their process and safety measures.
