During the inspection, they found the vehicle needed a new rear pinion seal, right inner tie rod end, and serpentine belt. None of that sounded too serious, and the dealer was willing to fix it before I purchased the vehicle, so I went ahead with the purchase. For things they missed - I checked the fluid levels a few weeks after purchase, and found that when the engine is cold, the coolant tank was completely empty. When it was warm, it was 2-3 inches below the 'add coolant' line. It took about a 1.5 quarts of antifreeze to top it off. I used the rest of the gallon over the next 9 months to keep it topped off before putting that car away for the winter, so there was likely a leak. When I started using the car again in the spring of 2014, I pointed out the possible coolant leak to Hubbell's when I brought it in for the first oil change. They did a pressure test, and found the heater core was leaking, why they said would be around $730 to repair. Looking back to the winter of 2013, the windshields had issues with fogging up, which is another indication that there was a heater core problem since when I bought the vehicle. I realize they would likely not do a pressure test for a pre-sale inspection. Also, I probably should have been more careful about checking the levels before purchasing the vehicle. However, for the rate that I saw the tank leak, I couldn't believe that the coolant level would have been topped of when they saw it a few weeks before the tank was empty, so they either didn't look at it, or decided that it was ok for the coolant level to be low. A low coolant level should have been note-worthy, considering it could indicate a problem. Overall, they caught stuff that most mechanics would, and missed stuff that most mechanics would, so I can't say that they demonstrated above-average quality in my case. However, I have a co-worker that has been going to Hubbell's for a while and swears by them, and I realize that things get missed once in a while, and would be willing to take the vehicle there for other work. Otherwise, the level of customer service was good - They were always quick with answering questions on the phone, and the shuttle service was also good.

I can't say much about the timeliness of the service - it was usually done within a few weeks of when I dropped the vehicle off, although I was not in a rush to get it back. Randy is also probably one of the friendliest people I have every meet, and was willing to answer all of my questions regarding anything else I should look at regarding my repairs, and what else I need to look at regarding related vehicle maintenance. For the price - they are probably competitive, but may not be the best if you are willing to look around. For the heater core, I had had another mechanic give an estimate of $730 before tax, although they already charged $50 for the pressure test, so that was $780 total. The other place probably would have did the job without issue, but I didn't want to use them for this specific repair, so I was willing to pay the extra money. For the intake manifold, I looked at the breakdown of their estimate and it looked reasonable. I couldn't drive the car with a broken intake manifold, so I was not able to get estimates from other places. Overall, not exactly knock-my-socks-off low prices, although they were good enough from me. They were also willing to help with some things that were outside of their core business too - They got a flat tired repaired, and also got estimates from a few places for replacing a door hinge that was going bad. If I could rate them as an A+, I would. Their level of integrity is impeccable. I initially went to them to find out how much it would cost to fix my air conditioning (which had quit working about a year and a half prior), get an oil change, and to run I general diagnostic to see if there were any other problems that needed to be fixed on my car. Almost every other mechanic that I have ever gone to for an oil change has tried to tell me that I had $2000-3000 worth of repairs that I needed to make on my car as soon as possible. (My car is a little older, 2005- 152k miles on it, but still fairly reliable and I'd like to keep it running as long as possible.). The A/C wasn't working because the valve for the A/C compressor was malfunctioning... Unfortunately, you can't just replace the valve... The whole compressor would have to be replaced as it all comes ordered as one piece, more or less. They didn't charge me anything more than the oil change and they estimated the compressor to cost somewhere between $450 and $700. They also told me that most everything else looked good... (Isn't that interesting...). I ended up holding off on the compressor for a while to save up the money and work on other personal projects since it wasn't crucial for my car to run. A few month later, I had my front brakes fixed. My back breaks started squealing a few months after that. I took my car in to replace my back brakes and get another oil change, but after taking a look at my car they told me that I still had 40% left on my brake pads and that the noise was just made by dust and rust buildup. They said that they didn't feel right replacing my brakes (even though that's what I had requested when I brought my car in) when they still had 40% life on them... So they asked if it was okay if they just cleaned the brakes off to get rid of the noise I was hearing. Again, they only charged me for the actual oil change. Just recently, my car started making terrible squealing noises again. I called in to explain the situation and they told me over the phone that it was probably my air-conditioning compressor making the noise since the compressor-valve had been broken for nearly two and a half years by this point (and had miraculously decided to try to work again on its own- but not the compressor itself was not up to the challenge). Again they gave me an estimate of $450-$700 to fix the compressor if I wanted. (I suppose it was good timing since I have been saving up the money to fix the air conditioning anyway.). I dropped off my car at night and the next morning, after they looked at my car, they called me back to confirm it was the compressor and asked if I would like to go ahead and fix it. I was able to pick it up later that day. I got lucky and the final cost after labor was less than $450. (apparently, if I had a different model of the same car, I might have needed a more expensive compressor, justifying the higher estimate.) Albert Auto has never tried to sell me on something I didn't need. They are excellent at maintaining communication about what's happening with your car and allowing you to make the best decision for you at that time. They are honest and upfront about all the costs for labor and repairs and they don't try to slip "additional fees" in on you after your car has already been torn apart for any diagnostic work. (That has happened to me at another company... That company took my engine apart to figure out "the problem", then wanted to charge me nearly $500 just to put it back together...without any repairs... Prompting my search for another mechanic.) Well, my search is over. Not only will I be a life-long customer of Albert Auto, I will recommend them to anybody and everybody I know! My and quot;check engineand quot; light was also on, so I also asked the gentleman working at the desk if he could also have someone take a look to figure out why it might be on. I explained that the and quot;check engineand quot; light had been on for several months and I hadn't noticed any problems. Since Tuffy wasn't that busy when I dropped it off, I decided to run across the street to a nearby convenience store to get a drink and snack and told the gentleman I would be back in a half hour or so. I returned to Tuffy about 30 or 40 minutes later and the gentleman at the desk explained my car was ready to go. He told me the oil change had been completed and they had run a free engine analysis on my car. He explained that the engine light was on but the engine analyzer hadn't identified a problem. He told me he had called a local Chevy dealer and that the and quot;check engineand quot; light could be on simply due to it not being cleared the last time the car engine was worked on. He also told me to call the Chevy dealer back later because the mechanic he had talked to was going to see if there were any recalls on my particular year and model that could be the cause of the check engine light being on. The Tuffy gentleman also explained that they could look into the engine more, but that it would probably be an unnecessary expense since I wasn't having any problems with the car while driving it. I thanked the gentleman at Tuffy, paid for the oil change and left. I subsequently found out there were no recalls so I continued driving with the check engine light on for a few months.. I was able to get a code off of an analyzer I purchased a few months later and found out that the and quot;check engineand quot; light was on due to dust in the solenoid adjacent to the gas tank. It turns out this can be fairly common with Chevy HHRs. So needless to say I was VERY impressed with the both the automotive and customer services I received at CR Tuffy. The gentleman at the desk was perfectly honest. He told me they could work delve deep and find a solution to the and quot;check engineand quot; light, but he also told me this could get expensive. I was happy that he explained my options fully and guided me in the right direction. The gentleman at Tuffy could have recommended they look deeper into the problem, probably at a high cost, but instead he explained that since the car was running OK, it wasn't necessary to spend money on unneeded services. I am usually leery of automotive garages and mechanics since I'm not very mechanically-minded myself. However, I'm not leery about Cedar Rapids Tuffy at all! I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone I know. I appreciate the honesty and great service I received. Thank CR Tuffy! We just moved into the neighborhood, and all of the sudden we didn't have hot water. We called up the phone number that was stuck to the water heater as we figured they'd be the best ones to call -- WRONG! The technician showed up a half hour late to the house. He spent roughly half an hour...

FAQs for heating oil service projects in Marion, IA
To buy heating oil for your house, contact local heating oil companies to compare prices and place an order once you decide on a supplier. The company will have to deliver your heating oil in a truck designed to carry and dispense heating oil safely. Call and order your heating oil early enough to have your oil delivered before you need to start using it for home heating.
On average, you’ll need about two gallons of oil per day to heat your house when it’s 50 degrees Fahrenheit outside. Most oil tank capacity is about 275 gallons, and heating your house with two gallons of oil per day will last about four and a half months. This consumption will vary depending on the climate and average temperature in your location. For example, if the winters are longer and colder where you live, you’ll probably need to refill your oil tank at least once to get through the winter.
You save money on heating oil in a few ways:
Make sure your home is well insulated and sealed against drafts and heat leakage.
Use a thermostat that’s working properly and calibrated accurately.
Program your thermostat to lower the heat when you’re not home.
Order heating oil during the off-season when prices are likely to be lower.
Summer months tend to be when heating oil prices are lowest because of decreased demand. Buying heating oil during the off-season also prepares you for when the weather gets cold, and you need to start using the oil to heat your home. Although heating oil prices will fluctuate, it’s best to avoid purchasing between September and April, as that's the peak season for heating oil demand.
Overall, heating your home with an oil furnace tends to be less expensive than heating your home with an electric heating system. Oil heating systems stay warm for longer periods of time without drawing a constant electrical current to maintain a temperature. Plus, heating oil systems typically have a longer lifespan and lower price tag than their electrical counterparts, resulting in short- and long-term savings.
