Wichhart Repair

We have used him before. He is very straightforward.

It took longer than expected, but it is fixed.

It went well,extremely pleasant down to earth repair man, reasonable cost,honest, a pleasant experience, i knew i could trust this person.

Doug came to my place within 25 minutes of my call.  He gave me the cost of getting a new one and adding the extra anode rod to extend my warranty, if I wanted to do that.   He drained the water heater and came back in the afternoon with a new one.  I had to get a short water heater as my heater is under the stairs.  He removed the old one and it was like he had never been in my house- nothing was messy or dirty. Total cost without additional anode rod was $750, with the rod was $900.  Everything was easy and went smoothly.

We got home from vacation at 11 am on Friday, and found a leaky water heater.  I did a quick check on Angie's list and found Wichhart Repair.  I called about 11:30.  He was here by 12:30 and we had a new, quality water heater installed  by 2:00.  Saved us from a weekend with no hot water.  I couldn't be happier.  His workmanship was excellent. 

The water heater was leaking and I call Wichhart Repair in the morning, and even though they were closing early that day they still came out and installed a new heater so we did not go without hot water.  They were very professional and also cleaned up and removed the old water heater.  Definitely will call them again and would recommend them to others.

I would never hire Doug again.

Had the parts on hand, completed work quickly. I called at a later date to request service on a different leaking faucet. He came at the end of the day, fixed the leak and did not charge me. On another occasion, I inquired about installing a new faucet. I was told that he did not usually do that type of job but that he would try to work it in between his other ongoing jobs. We discussed possible dates for the following week and I understood that I would need to be at home in case he had time to do the job. I have not heard from him since. While I have no issues with the quality of the work, I will probably not use Wichhart Repair in the future as my schedule is not that flexible and I prefer to have a set appointment rather than an "on-call" one.

Doug is prompt, works efficiently, helps find the root cause of a problem (to ensure nothing else happens) instead of simply fixing one small thing. He is professional in all communications, sets realistic expectations, helps homeowners understand the issues/concerns, and explains how he is going to fix it or how he fixed it, when the task is complete. He's like my dad in a sense that you do things right the first time.
He's saved us personally, and individuals in our condo association, a lot of money by going the extra mile. Example: Garbage disposal in one unit was 'broken' - instead of simply replacing the garbage disposal and being done with it - he quickly investigated and realized that the unit on the third floor (which drains lines were attached to the five other units below) was not operating properly and food was building up in the main drain line to the entire building. He suggested confirming all garbage disposals in the building were working properly and then routed out the main drain line so there were no more back-ups. Because of this advice - everything was fixed and there hasn't been an issue since. At least four other plumbing professionals had been to the building to help other owners (unbeknownst until we followed Doug's suggestion) and the problem had still continued. I would strongly recommend Wichhart Repair (although with some reservation...because if you all start contacting him - he won't have time for my projects!). :-)

Our water heater broke from the bottom and flooded our utility room and part of our basement on a friday morning. I called several companies and only Wichhart repairs could come the same day. The owner, Doug, came and replaced the water heater and took out the old at no charge. For 50 or 75$ more, he upgraded our water heater from 40 gallon to a 50 gallon tank which gives us alot more hot water when we have company. He also gave the forms for energy saving rebate and the paper work to extend our water heater warrenty to 7 years. My father who would normally replace our water heater was sick at the time and could not do the work himself, though oversaw all of Dougs work, and thought that Doug was great and did a great job. He was very nice and professional and knew what he was doing. Our new water heater has worked great since. The next time we have a water heater problem, we will use Wichhart repair again.

Wichhart's services were included in the total price of the remodel. He was super to work with, was here whenever he said he would be, and did an excellent job. When there was a problem with a piece of equipment which required ripping out a large section of a wall, he did so with as little disruption as possible. I would highly recommend him.

It was a high efficiency water heater and we got our money back for that. The owner is a local and small business man. Our heating and air conditioning guy recommended him. He was very professional and nice. My husband liked him. We might have paid a little bit too much for it, but the technician was here when he said he would be here. He did a good job and cleaned up after himself. I would hire him again.

We were pulling items from a storage closet over the weekend, and found some wet, moldy, carpet in the back. It turned out the water heater on the other side of the wall had been leaking, probably for some time. I called Doug first thing Monday morning; and he was over within 15 minutes. He assessed the damage and confirmed that the heater would need to be replaced. He outlined the estimate and work needed, and completed the job that same day. Started the tank draining while he was there, and it was all ready to go when he returned with the new heater. He installed the new heater, made a couple required changes to the pipes, installed some insulation on the pipes, and hauled away the old heater. Doug was very quick and professional. The whole job took less than 1.5 hours. I would not hesitate to recommend Doug.

It was great. Start to finish it was done great, timely and fast.

Overall, Doug is always the first person I call when i need anything done close to plumbing. He is great and I would recommend him to anyone.
