"Midea upright freezer failed in July 2024 and damaged all meat in freezer, outside of warranty with purchase in March 2023. Midea referred to Iowa Appliance Repair. I was initially hesitant to use Iowa Appliance Repair due to them charging ~$125 for a diagnostic appointment. After a few months, I finally decided to use Iowa Appliance Repair. I paid the $123.05 and set an appointment. They stated the $123.05 would be applied towards the cost of repair. If I had to reschedule, there would be a reschedule fee. Despite the high diagnosis cost, they wouldn’t give me a specific appointment time; only a 4 hour window. My wife and I have full time jobs. I picked a date my wife was scheduled to be working from home. Unfortunately, she had an emergency client situation and wasn’t able to answer the door when the Iowa Appliance Service Technician came. She tried to communicate with the Technician via text message, but he had already left. I called to reschedule knowing there would be a reschedule fee. To reschedule, I would have to pay the full $123.05 again, and the original $123.05 was gone. I asked if they would apply the first and second service fees towards my repair; the answer was “no, only the second fee”. I’m mostly disappointed that they charge a high service fee that doesn’t apply later if you miss your appointment while not providing a specific service appointment time. Do not recommend using a company that does business the way Iowa Appliance Repair does business."
