"Titan did a magnificent job on my property during the past week. I needed the following done: Grading work on my 3 acre property and three different types of rocks delivered. I also needed additional black dirt brought in to make it perfect. From start to finish the communication was excellent with Will. He let me know what time they would get to my job and everything that was going on during the work process. This is something that a lot of contractors just fail to do in my past experiences. They provide top notch equipment, with many different attachments for various types of jobs during the entire process. This ensures that the job is done correctly, the first time! Lastly, customer service could not be better. They (Will and Tim) stayed with the job until I was completely satisfied. Always keeping a great attitude no matter how many questions I asked. "Contracted to do the above which he completed. Also contracted to remove bush and a stump. Said he would be over on the weekend to finish. This was on 7/3 and I paid him. He said he needed to pay his crew. Boy was I hood winked. What business does not have money in reserve to pay his employees? It is now 7/25. Called 3 times and left a detailed message no call back. Last night called using another phone number and talked to Tom. He promised he would be over that night 7/24 to finish the contract. As of this writing work not completed. So sad. This gives ALL contractors a bad rep. I was very patient and trusting. Never again."

"Took down and removed a 60' plus Norway spruce with a 4' plus diameter trunk, that was only 8' from our house. Also removed the stump, and cleaned everything up, nicely. This is the 2nd time I have used Nichols Tree Service, and will again, if needed."

Tree borers are difficult to control and remove once they make a home in your tree. However, with patience and determination, some methods can slow the damage or even eliminate the pests. But, once the damage is too much for the tree to handle, the only solution becomes removing it. Talk to a tree specialist early for the best chance at saving your tree.

Ideally, you should wait to prune until trees have gone dormant in late fall to early winter. The worst times to prune trees are early fall and late summer, as pruning them so close to dormancy makes it difficult for the tree recover before it goes dormant for the season.

Opt for a barefoot tree. Pros harvest barefoot trees when they’re dormant (leafless). They shake the dirt from the root ball and pack it in moist material. 

These trees can cost half as much as the trees at your local nursery, and you can buy them online—so there’s a much wider selection. Just make sure you keep your barefoot tree cool until you’re ready to plant it.

Late winter is ideal, but if you’re pruning apple trees in the spring, prune them as early as possible in the season. You want to ensure your tree is just creeping out of dormancy and hasn’t started pushing out new growth. If you prune your tree too late into spring, you generally won’t see results until the following year.

That said, there’s no pruning season for unhealthy growth. Remove dead, dying, or diseased branches as soon as you notice them, regardless of the time of year.

Licensing requirements for arborists vary by state and municipality, so you should use Angi’s contractor licensing tool to see if your arborist needs a license. Even if an arborist license isn’t mandated in your area, it’s a good idea to hire one that has at least a business license, business insurance, and certification from a third-party organization, like the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) or the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA). Licensed arborists tend to have more experience and are more likely to provide a professional solution to your tree problem.
