"It is true that they do charge to roll the truck to do your estimate, but they give you a variety of options. We presented our installer, Jonathan, with a smart ceiling fan and he took the challenge on head on while letting us ponder additional services. I would highly recommend Jonathan and Integra Electrical."

"I had a ceiling fan with lights that would flicker once while pulling the fan switch to go from the high setting to the low setting. With a short in the circuit seeming like a possibility, I felt a need for an electrician to verify whether or not there was a short. The electrician from WireOne had me sign an agreement to pay about $200 to do a diagnosis and fix the issue before starting work. The issue ended up being simple to fix: the transponder used to remotely control the fan needed to be removed from the circuit. There was nothing physically done to verify whether or not there was a short and no reduced cost from $200 was applied to this service."

"Very professional. Was able to install Ceiling Fan in upper level living room and 9 recessed can lights in finished basement. Very conscientious about minimal debris and providing exactly what we were hoping to achieve. Worked close to eight hours without any diversions. Highly recommend over the big downtown boys in their fancy trucks!"

"Todd came on the day & time scheduled and completed the work in our attic.  Our problem was that we had condensation forming in the attic and draining through the ceiling fans into the bathrooms.  This did not happen all the time so we are not sure the problem has been corrected but so far so good!"

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

If your home already has wires for a ceiling fan (and optional light kit), then it’s quite safe to wire and install it yourself. Always be very careful to shut off the power before you begin, and confirm that the power is safely off with a non-contact voltage tester before touching anything. It’s also highly recommended to use eye protection, rubberized gloves, and tools with rubber handles to keep yourself safe from electric shock.

To convert a ceiling fan to wireless, you’ll need to install a canopy module to access the lighting and fan controls. Many options are available, all of which help you control specific elements of your ceiling fan, so you have plenty of choices depending on your needs.

The direction your ceiling fan spins helps create comfortable airflow in your home and can also help cut down on energy costs.

During summer, your ceiling fan should spin counterclockwise. This will push cooler air downward in a column and help lower your room’s air temperature. In the winter, set your ceiling fan to spin clockwise and at the lowest speed setting. This will pull cool air upwards, displacing the warm air that pools towards the top of your ceiling and bringing it down towards the floor.

Identifying the source of noises is your first step to soundproofing a room without overspending. Generally, sound comes from inside or outside of the house. Inside noises include creaking floors, living noises like TVs in the living room, cooking sounds, or kids being kids. External noises generally include incremental weather, disturbing neighbors, and street traffic. Inside noises require you to soundproof floors, ceilings, and doors, whereas outside noises may require you to soundproof your attic, windows, and walls facing the streets.

The more surface area that a ceiling fan blade has, the more effective it will be at producing airflow. Therefore, a longer ceiling fan blade is the better option if you’re looking for more wind. However, a longer blade will consume more energy than a shorter blade.
