"Widened and leveled my driveway, added new gravel and compacted it and added a drainage grate to my garage. Very professional and knowledgeable. Was able to accommodate my schedule. Finished the work in about 8 hours. Very happy with the result."

"Billy has done several jobs for us. He leveled our 3 season porch after it settled. He added a 40 foot deck onto that porch. He’s done some grading, excavating and rock hauling/spreading. Would highly recommend!"

"I asked that front and back lawns be mowed with hand mower because large commercial mowers were destroying the lawn. He is doing a fine job. Next will be improving the lawn and ridding weeds."

"We recently had the pleasure of working with Matt on a home improvement project and we couldn't be happier with the results. His attention to detail is impeccable— from the framing to the wider steps and even the rounded corners, every aspect was handled with care. Matt completed the work promptly and communication throughout the process was perfect. Thanks Matt."

"I am very happy with the services provided and the final product. I only hire based on reviews, and Professional Contracting Iowa has excellent reviews - the fact that people take the time to provide a review speaks volumes. Chris provided great advice prior to getting the bid - we talked about concrete being associated with firepits, and Chris recommended that we place firebricks around the pit. He was the only contractor to make this recommendation, and I feel it demonstrated the expertise I was looking for to manage my project. He also spent time to look at a sidewalk that his team had NOT poured to provide me perspective on the issues I was experiencing. Chris has a team of professionals that truly care about customer excellence - they kept checking in with me as the project was being completed to ensure that I was provided an opportunity to help make decisions. Bob, another team member, represents the company well - I work in executive customer service for another company, and Bob provided me the same experience that I attempt to provide my own customers. I would hire this team again, and recommend that you do the same!"

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

To prevent carbon monoxide poisoning on a propane heater, make sure that your heater is suitable for indoor use. When you run the heater, it should always be in a well-ventilated area with proper air circulation. Installing carbon monoxide detectors on every level of your home is also essential. If you have any questions about using a heater indoors, contact a local heating and oil company for more information.

Pellet stoves burn compressed wood byproducts, making them very efficient and clean-burning. However, even efficient combustion still produces fine dust particles, which could have an effect on the health of vulnerable people in your household, such as infants and people with asthma. A wood stove pro can help determine whether the levels in your home are unsafe.

You can fireproof an existing door to some extent, but it's better to remove the old door and replace it with a fire-rated model. Anything dealing with extreme heat needs rigorous testing and a door you DIY fireproof will not undergo the same safety measures as a premade one. Consider a door with a rating of at least 30 minutes or more in residential areas.

Yes, windows being painted shut is a fire hazard. Because windows painted shut may have locks that stick or cannot be opened easily in an emergency, this becomes an immediate fire hazard that should be dealt with.

You should never block both the top and bottom of your chimney. Proper airflow is essential because the temperature inside the chimney will still fluctuate as your house warms and cools. Moisture can build up without ventilation, leading to dampness in your walls over time. Blocking the top prevents debris and animals from entering, but the chimney still needs air circulation to avoid condensation issues. Allowing the chimney to breathe maintains the health of your home and prevents long-term damage.
