Truly a man you would want to install your pool or do landscaping after the work is done on the pool. "The project went overall very well and the price was very good. Everyone seemed very knowledgeable and the owner was extremely helpful in addressing several of our concerns. They did a great job grinding out the cracks, smoothing the uneven surfaces, re-pouring a section that had raised up that sat on the pool edge, and covering it all with CoolDeck. The technicians came right on time and worked all day long for 3 days. It looks like we have an entirely new, re-poured deck now. Our three complaints are that our neighbor saw that that the technicians poured some mix or something into the storm drain when we were out. That's a no-no. Previously they poured some into a catch-basin of ours which drained into our neighbors larger drain system. He told us and was not happy nor were we. I also wished that their grinding tool had some kind of vacuum system on it. Instead, we had huge clouds of dust around the house while they were grinding. The second complaint was that the color was lighter than we expected from what we saw in the sample. The third complaint is that my wife is seeing a hair line crack forming around the pool where the owner suggested we have a coping cut line made, but which the concrete workers rejected saying it would weaken the structure too much. Now we may need to have them come back and make the cut line after all... and a ton more dust."

Install Above Ground Pools questions, answered by experts

Generally, you should run your pool pump for eight to 12 hours a day to keep your water clean and chemical levels balanced. The ideal runtime can vary depending on your specific pump type. While running the pump as much as possible is ideal for cleanliness, it can increase electricity costs. To save money, you can run the pump strategically during non-peak hours when electricity is cheaper, which is often in the evenings or at night. The hours do not need to be consecutive.

If a pool turns green after adding salt, there’s a good chance the salt is the problem. Certain brands of salt have high levels of iron that cause pool water to take on a green hue. Test your pool water to determine if this is the issue. The green color will usually filter out. Brush the sides of the pool to knock the iron off.

This is just one reason a pool can turn green that is specific to adding salt. Many other reasons a pool can turn green include algae growth, low chlorine levels, a faulty filter, etc.

Pool leaks most commonly occur at joints or where different materials meet. The most frequent leak spots include:

  • The Pool Skimmer: Where the plastic skimmer meets the pool's liner or shell.

  • The Pool Liner: Tears can develop in vinyl liners, especially those between 5 and 20 years old. Leaks also occur around the liner's edge.

  • Fittings and Accessories: Areas around return lines, the main drain, and pool lights are common culprits.

  • Pool Equipment: The pump, filter, and filter housing can also leak.

While leaks in underground pipes are less common, they can be costly to fix. It's usually best to check the more common spots before investigating the plumbing system.

There are many factors to consider when building an in-ground concrete pool. This includes the pool’s primary purpose (relaxation or exercise) if you live in a warm or cold climate (how often it’ll be used), and if you have the budget for chemical treatments and pool maintenance. In-ground pools are often more costly than aboveground pools, but they’re considered more luxurious and hold more value.

No, you shouldn’t be able to taste the salt at all since saltwater pools only contain about 10% of the salt you’d find in ocean water. Saltwater pools do create some chlorine, though, so you should still try not to drink the water.
