"Encompass has completed several projects for us over the years. They have replaced our old gutters, removed dilapidated siding and trim and replaced, then painted and performed drywall repairs and painted some interior rooms. Each project has been a good experience and we will certainly hire Encompass again when the need arises."

"Calvin s team was great! I had the siding, windows, and gutters replaced on a 40 year old house and they did an amazing job working through the challenges a older house brings. They were great about working around my schedule and cleaning up when they were done. I feel so much better now that I ve found a team that I can depend on to work on my house."

"ALSONSO is honest and reliable. He did painting, enclosed my back porch and replaced all the siding on my house, He cleaned up all the work areas . All jobs were done professionally. He was worth every penny I spent, I have yard work to be done and I plan on Alonso for that. I will use on one else to do work for me. He is friendly, always with a smile on his face. Always on time, and his crew never slowed down, even if Alfonso went for more supplies."

Siding questions, answered by experts

Yes, clapboard siding generally costs more compared to vinyl. The average cost for vinyl siding is between $2 and $7 per square foot. Meanwhile, clapboard siding costs $4 to $20 per square foot.

Wood clapboard siding needs frequent sealing to keep it in top condition—likely every two to three years. A sealant helps protect it from both moisture and sunlight damage. Your weather and climate will affect how often you need to seal the siding, but the pros recommend sealing it every couple of years. More durable woods in milder climates may not need to be sealed quite as often.

Stucco is considered a type of cladding because it includes a built-in ventilation layer, a weatherproof membrane beneath that, and, often, a layer of insulation to improve building efficiency. The multiple layers of stucco—the scratch coat, the brown coat, and the finish coat—also create a more complex building membrane, so it’s more accurate to call it cladding. However, homeowners and contractors alike refer to stucco as siding.

A self-etching primer is the best option for aluminum siding. These are specifically designed to bond with bare metals, among other surfaces, leading to better adhesion and corrosion resistance. An oil-based primer is a good alternative if you can’t find a self-etching primer.

The most significant benefit to mixing siding styles is the visual appeal and intrigue you can create. Multiple colors or textures will make your home stand out, boosting curb appeal and home value. Mixing siding styles also lets you take advantage of the high resale value of stone without having to pay the high cost of covering your entire home with it. Coupling stone and vinyl means pairing affordability and value. Plus, you’ll often only have to pay for a partial siding replacement when it comes time to replace one of the materials.
