"Abraham was able to come out with his crew right away and finished the job in one day (which was much appreciated given the window was in our only shower). He communicated throughout the process and even called 2 weeks later to make sure everything was still looking good. His crew was friendly and cleaned up after the job. Would definitely hire him again."

"They are the nicest folks. The owner even stopped by to inspect to make sure we were completely satisfied with the results. You just donâ t get that kind of follow up these days. We originally hired them to install porcelain tile in our bathroom. However, they ended up repairing and replacing a bad floor install that we previously paid someone else for. They did so well that we got them to install the flooring in another bathroom that same day. In addition, they helped us with a small paint job for a nominal fee. We felt the overall price was fair and they did an excellent job. They are on my list for the next home improvement idea we have in the future."

Small jobs welcome

"Weâ ve used Stacy three times now. He did our backsplashes for our kitchen remodel, a shower enclosure for our guest bathroom and another shower and floor for our main bathroom remodel. Quality and professional work with fantastic results! Great communication and attention to detail. Very conscious about cleanlinessâ ¦ never leaves a mess. We would highly recommend Stacy and his son for any tile project you may be considering. You wonâ t be disappointed!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Porcelain and ceramic tiles are made from clay, but porcelain tiles are fired in a kiln at a higher temperature. This makes them more durable, but it also means porcelain is more expensive than ceramic at $3 to $5 more per square foot.

Even with the higher price point, many people choose porcelain over ceramic because there are more color and design options.

Yes, construction materials like tile, lumber, drywall, and hardware can be disposed of in a dumpster, just not in your regular garbage. As you’re planning your project, just make sure to rent the correct size of dumpster based on the scope of your needs and be aware of weight limits. Tile weighs a lot (along with other construction materials), and your costs could increase if you exceed the weight limit in your contract with the dumpster provider.

In some cases, granite tiles can be installed over existing flooring if the surface is level, stable, and free of moisture issues. However, removing old flooring is often recommended to ensure a secure and long-lasting installation, as well as to avoid height differences at thresholds. Consult with your flooring pro to determine the best approach based on your specific situation.

For professional labor and materials, it would cost between $6,000 and $28,000 to install 1,000 square feet of Saltillo tile flooring. If that’s out of your budget, you could consider laying the tiles yourself or choosing a less expensive type of flooring. For example, vinyl flooring costs just $2 to $7 per square foot, so for a 1,000-square-foot space, you’d pay $2,000 to $7,000.

Flooring transition strips can be secured to the subfloor using glue, nails, or screws. For a more secure installation, especially in high-traffic areas, using screws or nails is recommended as it reduces the risk of slippage. However, if aesthetic appeal is a priority, glue provides a cleaner, more seamless finish without any visible holes or screw heads.
