"Gus remodeled our guest bathroom; removing a tub and installing a shower was just a part of it. Good workmanship at a fair price. Before he started, he said he might have to replace some subflooring and he was correct. We had some supply chain problems and couldn't get exactly what we wanted so he went into high gear to help us find something better and we are very happy with the improvements over our original plan. The plumber Gus hired even changed a kitchen faucet that wasn't part of the original job. Gus did such a great job, just this week I gave his name and number to a friend who needs a new kitchen floor. Gus even recommended another contractor to replace some lumber on the exterior of my back porch and we were happy with that contractor also."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Natural stone floors, especially pebble-style tiling, are one of the least slippery options for a shower floor. Natural stone has a texture to reduce slickness, and pebble-shaped tiles add more visual and textural contrast while reducing slippage. Vinyl tiles are also designed with anti-slip texture for added safety. If you have a slippery tile, be sure to add a grippy shower mat to reduce the risk of falls.

You can purchase natural stone tiles from your local home improvement store or stone distributor.

Simply put, natural stone flooring is a high-end style that outlasts its wood and carpet counterparts. After finding a style you love, a stone flooring company near you can help source and install them for a reliably clean look.

Costs range from $5 to $15 per square foot for installation and $150 to $600 for repairs, depending on the material and complexity.

The best types of tiles for a shower are ceramic and porcelain tiles. These materials are durable, water-resistant, and easy to maintain, making them ideal for wet environments. Porcelain tiles are slightly more durable than ceramic. Both options come in a wide variety of styles, so you can achieve the perfect look for your bathroom.

For best results, you should remove the toilet in a bathroom before removing tile or installing new tile. If you don’t remove the toilet, it will be harder to fully waterproof the tile around the toilet, which could increase the risk of mold growth or plumbing leaks. If you have trouble removing the toilet, hire a plumber to help.
