"I was so happy on the work they did. You clean you house for top to bottom. But when they clean it I didn't believe that my house was that bad. They clean my house so good that I told my friends. Thank you"

"Awesome crew that was professional and courteous. I hired them to construct a deck on the back of my house and they did a phenomenal job with on-time completion. Highly recommend and will use again for future projects."

"Burtons crew took a lot of time with the edges around my cabinets. His guys washed down the doors and all of the molding before painting (as I had requested and paid extra) so that cabinets, trim, & walls were very clean from exposure to grease before the paintwork. There was no overspray and he put on two coats just like I requested! I was so pleased with the outcome! It was so nice to get a fresh kitchen makeover for a Mom of 3 grown boys! Thanks, Burton and everyone at Quality Color Painting! I am a happy customer for sure! - Elizabeth Truesdel Perry, GA"

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Pressure-treated decking may be worth it if you want a natural, insect- and rot-resistant decking material that will last for decades with proper maintenance. As such, it’s a much better option than untreated pine. Alternative wood decking materials like cedar and redwood tend to be less durable and more expensive. Some homeowners prefer composite decking, which is a low-maintenance alternative to wood but is also more costly.

Because adding a deck will yield a higher property value, you may have higher insurance costs. It’s important to follow the codes and regulations set by your local and state governments, so your insurance rates can be properly calculated. You may need an insurance revaluation after your deck is completed. The best course of action is to speak with an insurance professional to understand how adding a deck will impact your home’s insurance costs before you begin.

To flatten a cupped deck board, start by ensuring it’s dry. Then, try flipping the board over so the cupped side faces down and reattach it. If that’s not possible, you can use screws to pull it tighter to the joists or plane the edges slightly to reduce the cup. It’s best to replace severely cupped boards.

Most building codes require that spindles or balusters on deck and stair railings be spaced no more than four inches apart. This safety standard, often called the '4-inch sphere rule,' is designed to prevent small children or pets from slipping through the railing. A good way to visualize this is that a 4-inch sphere should not be able to pass between two spindles. For the same safety reason, the space between the bottom rail and the deck floor should also be no more than four inches. As a general guideline, professionals often install three balusters per foot of railing. However, since specific requirements can vary by location, it is crucial to check your local building codes to ensure compliance before starting your project.

Homeowners should build their floating decks at least 18 inches off the ground. Having it at this height will allow for better airflow underneath and help prevent moisture-related problems like warping or rot. That being said, local guidelines for deck heights may vary depending on where you live.
