"I hired this company to repair some siding on the back of my home and paint my deck. It was painted a sexy black and it looks so very beautiful. It rained after the application and I saw some water bubbles. I let them know my concern and the painter came back out the next day. By that time most of the bubbles were gone, but he touched up areas that needed touching up. Could not be happier. Quote was extremely fair."

"I called TK Built with a problem. I had granite counter tops installed by Art Stone but they failed to secure the dishwasher. Tim came right over, came up with a game plan, and rebuilt the side of the cabinet where the dishwasher was. He also used wood trim to cover some unsightly gaps left from the new countertop. He is always ready, on time, works hard, and does it all with humor and great customer service. I will always call TK Built FIRST."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

You can, in theory, tile your fireplace hearth with most tiles. However just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. For example, it’s much better to use unglazed tiles because glazed tiles are more resistant to cracking under extreme heat. Porcelain is more heat-resistant than ceramic, but you can still design the hearth as you like by putting the most heat-resistant tiles directly under the fire and, if it matches your style, add more decorative tiles further from the center of the fire.

Yes, you can tile over existing tiles in a bathroom, but it is not always recommended. For this method to be successful, the original tile surface must be clean, flat, and free of damage such as cracks, unevenness, mold, or mildew. While tiling over existing tiles can save time and money, there are potential drawbacks. The new adhesive may not bond properly, and the process adds extra weight to the wall or floor. Additionally, the increased height of the surface could interfere with door clearances. For the best and most durable results, removing the old tiles before installing new ones is generally the better option.

Technically, you can start tiling in a corner and work your way out. However, it's not traditionally how tiling is done. Instead, work from the bottom middle of the wall. Tile out the entire row with whole tiles before moving on to the next row. Once you finish installing all of the whole tiles, then you focus on tiling the corners.

Yes, it would be best if you waterproofed your shower walls before tiling. The cement backing board behind the tile is not waterproof; it’s only water-resistant. On top of your tile backing board, be sure to use a waterproof shower membrane before you start installing your shower tiles.

Porcelain and ceramic tiles are made from clay, but porcelain tiles are fired in a kiln at a higher temperature. This makes them more durable, but it also means porcelain is more expensive than ceramic at $3 to $5 more per square foot.

Even with the higher price point, many people choose porcelain over ceramic because there are more color and design options.
