"I worked with Bill he was very professional and gave me a great price to cut down and remove three trees from the property. He was timely for his appointment and completed the task in less than 4 hours. he cleaned the area and used a blower to ensure the yard had no debris left. I would recommend him for any tree job and will use him again if i need a tree person. Great job by professional personnel. Thank you"

"Brothers Contracting and Landscaping is FABULOUS to work with! They tore out our old, unsafe deck and replaced it with one twice the size and much, much sturdier. The also replaced our worn out front porch and shed doors and built completely new doors, as well as remodeling our damaged floor in our master bathroom and installing new fabulous flooring. They accomplished all this in about 3 1/2 weeks! On time, on budget, and with EXCELLENT workmanship. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BROTHERS!"

"Eric and his crew have done an excellent job in completing multiple jobs, tree cutting, trimming, stump grinding, grading, hauling all the debris out, etc. We are happy we hired Josh to do these projects, and then more because he's great resource for other jobs that he does not specialize in. He's a solution oriented person who will provide resorces to help you out if it is something beyond his expertise. I am grateful that we hired him for a tree job, he's professional and resourceful. I highly recommend him for your tree cutting job and beyond!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Burning a tree stump can be effective, but it comes with safety considerations and isn’t always best for every situation. It's essential to check local regulations and assess the safety risks involved. Stumps that are near wooden structures or other non-moveable flammable objects aren’t good candidates for burning due to the risk of the fire spreading. Alternatives like grinding or a DIY stump rotting project might be safer and quicker for getting the job done.

You can start your search for a reputable arborist online by looking for professionals who hold the proper licensing and are fully insured. Next, read through some online reviews to see what kind of service the expert brings to the table, and confirm that they don’t have a history of complaints with the Better Business Bureau. Finally, you can ask the professional for a list of references and then call them to ask questions about the service, professionalism, value, and more that the expert brings to the table.

Pruning can impact cold hardiness—but it’s less about the exact temperature and more about temperature variation. Generally, you don’t want to prune trees when there’s a risk of temperatures suddenly dropping from 50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit to 0 degrees Fahrenheit or below. A tree is most sensitive until 48 hours after it’s pruned.

Ideally, you should wait to prune until trees have gone dormant in late fall to early winter. The worst times to prune trees are early fall and late summer, as pruning them so close to dormancy makes it difficult for the tree recover before it goes dormant for the season.

If the roots are still alive, the dead tree will usually try to put out new shoots. That doesn’t mean the tree will survive or that the dead parts of a tree will come back to life. If parts of the tree have died and turned gray or rotten, nothing will bring them back to life and they need to be safely removed.
