"I hired Mike to tile my master bathroom shower (walls & shower floor). I am so thankful I hired him to do this project. I’ve never had to hire someone to do this type of project before, and he made every part of the process so easy. I knew exactly what I needed to get before the job took place and he explained everything he would need to do and how he was going to do it. The finished product turned out awesome! He basically had to build my shower out from scratch because a bath tub use to be in its place. His pricing was the most reasonable of any tile contractor I spoke with. If you need to call or text him, he will respond quickly. A couple weeks after the project was completed, I texted him about one tile I was concerned about. Within 24 hours, he came out and fixed my issue. He stands by his work. I highly recommend Mike. I’m also hiring him to install my bathroom floor as well (also very reasonably priced)."

"Absolutely excellent work performed by Juan and his coworker. They arrived on time finished the work above, and beyond what was expected, worked in our house as though it was theirs. I highly recommend this company for any of your hardwood flooring refinishing, and even installation I would hire them again and work with them again it was such a pleasure."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

The best bathroom floor tiles are strong enough to withstand the weight of a clawfoot tub. However, professional tile installation is essential. If the tiles are uneven or improperly fixed, they may crack under the pressure. Be careful when installing the tub—if it drops or drags on the tiles, it could easily cause scratches or cracks.

The tile spacing you should use will depend on the tile and where you’re installing it. Choosing the right tile spacers to maintain a consistent gap between your tiles is tricky. Generally, tile spacing shouldn’t be less than 2 millimeters on walls and 3 millimeters on floors because of stress relief requirements. Getting it wrong can result in uneven tiles and early repairs.

A cement backer board is not needed for laying tile on concrete. Sometimes referred to as a cementitious backer unit, or CBU, backer board should be used if the subfloor is plywood or OSB. The backer board provides a base on which to install the tiles that isn’t as likely to be damaged by any accidental water seepage as natural materials would be.

Different types of tile cutters may work best depending on the type of tile you are cutting and the size of your project. There are two main types of tile cutters: manual and electric. Manual tile cutters are quick and easy to use for small projects and softer tile materials, but they can only make straight cuts. Electric tile cutters make light work of big projects and can cut through harder materials.

Yes. You can tile over tile if the old tile is in good shape, but this will also create a thicker floor. As a result, you may have to remove and readjust baseboards and other room trimmings and potentially even raise door heights to work with the higher floors. In most projects, it’s best to remove the old tile before installing a new tile floor.
