"Masle and his team did an excellent job, going above and beyond to repair the entire system, replacing all of the rotten sills, beams and floor joists in a 120 year old mill house. And since he was also able to do the encapsulation and drainage system installation, I was able to work with one company to get everything completed. His pricing was very good, and added additional piers when he found it necessary without charging extra. I would highly recommend Uneven Floor Solutions for any foundation issues you might have."

"They were as advertised. Mr. Rick looked at the work that need to be done gave me an estimate and completed everything in a timely manner. I was very impressed by how quickly he finished and cleaned everything up. I will definitely use them again. Very fair price."

"Jim and his crew did an amazing job transforming our backyard of overgrown weeds and bushes into a beautiful, usable outdoor living space. At first the job was just to remove weeds, trimming bushes and like work. However it became obvious he and crew could do much more. Final job included above work, plus old fencing removal and complete fence rebuild including heavy gate, sod installation, and brick patio installation ( I already had the bricks ). In addition we had Jim bring in and lay decorative rock along one section for a stone pathway. Now my wife and I have a nice green lawn, secure fence, and backyard patio to use , relax and enjoy. Project cost was very reasonable considering all work done. But I am convinced the money was very well spent and has added much value to our property. Job very well done !"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

In Evans, high humidity and expanding clay soils heavily impact specific areas of your property. Your chimney requires direct attention, as thermal cycling and heavy rain degrade mortar joints. Brick veneers and crawl space foundations develop white mineral staining and moisture damage over time. Additionally, retaining walls and concrete driveways face significant pressure from shifting soil and mature tree roots, requiring proactive repairs to prevent complete failure.

Helpful?

Hidden expenses during masonry work stem from local environmental factors and strict building codes. In Evans, excavating for retaining walls reveals poor drainage or invasive tree roots that demand immediate remediation. You must also account for mandatory structural permits and required inspections. Opening up brick veneers or chimneys exposes corroded wall ties, failing steel lintels, and damaged flue liners that require complete replacement before the project advances.

Helpful?

Inspect your property after a hard winter freeze or heavy summer storm. Look for stair-step cracking along brick joints, bowing retaining walls, and white mineral stains on block foundations. You should also check for spalling brick faces and soft mortar that scratches away easily. Schedule your masonry work between October and April, as the lower humidity in GA allows the mortar to cure properly and ensures a lasting repair.

Helpful?

When reviewing quotes for masonry work, watch out for contractors who cannot provide a valid GA state license or proof of insurance. Avoid professionals who claim permits are unnecessary for structural projects. You should also reject quotes that ignore local clay soil conditions, lack specific mortar types for high humidity, or fail to include debris disposal plans. Hire a local professional who understands local building codes to ensure a safe project.

Helpful?

Safe masonry work requires strict adherence to local weather and environmental protocols. During hot Evans summers, contractors must schedule heavy labor for early mornings and enforce mandatory rest breaks. Professionals must also use wet cutting methods or HEPA vacuums to control dangerous silica dust. Ensure your contractor secures all required county inspections, follows trench shoring rules for unstable clay soils, and halts elevated scaffolding work during afternoon thunderstorms.
