"I have a contract with them to insulate my house. They insulated the walls, I paid them for that ($2000.00). I gave them $1200.00 for material to do the attic and would pay them $800.00 when the job was done. After the drywall was and electrical was installed, I called them, they did not call be back. I called them and left text messages for about two weeks. After Home Advisor called them, they said that they would do the job. We made appointments after appointments, to this date they have not showed up and Donny or Cody will not answer my calls. Now, I will need to find someone else to clean up their mess and finish the job. I do not think their warrantee is any good..."

The lifespan of crawl space insulation depends on how well you maintain your insulation and the type of insulation. Spray foam insulation can last anywhere from 80 to 100 years. 

It’s technically possible to install loose-fill cellulose insulation without a blower, but it’s much more time-consuming, tedious, and dangerous. You’ll need to wear the proper protective coverings to handle the cellulose after it’s been doused in boric acid; use a shovel when you can to transport the material from the bag into the wall cavity.

That said, if you purchase cellulose materials at a home improvement store, ask if they rent out blowers for free or at a discounted rate. In many cases, if you buy the material from the store, they’ll rent out the blower at no extra cost.

No, 55 degrees Fahrenheit is not too cold for a house, as it’s a temperature that will keep your pipes and appliances from freezing. Well-insulated homes can even go to 50 degrees, but check with an HVAC pro before opting for such a low temperature. Stick to 55 degrees to be on the safe side.

It’s best not to install a radiant barrier directly under insulation because it requires an air gap on at least one side to work properly. Instead, you should install the radiant barrier over your existing insulation to create an air space to reflect the radiant heat.

Vermiculite insulation can potentially contain asbestos, which poses health risks when disturbed. While it is possible to purchase a home with vermiculite insulation, you should have it tested for asbestos, and ensure proper containment if asbestos is present. If asbestos is present, you will want to hire a professional to remove it, ideally before you move in.
