"Sky Blue Painting did an exceptional job for me. I hired them to repair/replace drywall in my bathroom that another contractor had messed up and remove the popcorn from the ceiling. Luis was extremely responsive to what I needed to be done, communicated any issues that he saw, and provided a quote the same day. When it came to getting the job done, I couldn't have been happier! The team was on time, a big bonus for me, and worked diligently and professionally. They completed the work in one day and cleaned up after themselves. They kept me informed of any issues they came across and were extremely courteous! I was so impressed with Sky Blue Painting that I asked them to quote on removing popcorn and painting several more rooms in the house. I would, and will definitely, hire them again."

Small jobs welcome

"I highly recommend the company and Geoffrey’s exceptional service. I had work completed at my residence, including a front door knob and deadbolt update, and the replacement of two exterior spigot handles. Communication was impeccable, with both reminders and updates regarding the arrival time on the day of service. The technician arrived punctually, conducted a thorough inspection, captured photographs, and completed the job in approximately two hours. While I am uncertain whether the cost was appropriate, I was comfortable with it and thoroughly appreciated the high-quality service provided."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Yes, a one-story house can have a load-bearing wall. The load-bearing walls in a single-story home are usually the exterior walls. If the house has a basement with exposed walls, the arrangement of the beams can help indicate what walls are load-bearing.

Drywall anchors won’t work on plaster. Instead, they will more than likely cause more damage and pull out the plaster. The best type of anchors to use on plaster walls are the ones that will bite into the surrounding area, such as molly bolts and toggle bolts. Masonry anchors with expanders on the sides also work for lighter pictures.

Whether you can reuse a drywall anchor depends on its type, material, and how it is removed. Plastic anchors, such as expansion or self-drilling types, are generally considered single-use because they are designed to expand and are likely to break or become deformed upon removal. Metal anchors, like toggle bolts, are more durable and can often be reused if they are not damaged during extraction. However, with toggle bolts, the toggle mechanism can fall inside the wall when the bolt is removed, making it difficult to retrieve. If an anchor is damaged or must be cut for removal, it cannot be reused regardless of its material.

To maintain plaster walls, inspect them regularly for cracks and seal them early. Clean the walls by dusting regularly or using a gentle, damp cloth. It's also important to avoid moisture exposure. Repainting as needed will help maintain the wall's appearance and longevity.

There are some instances when you can use extra drywall in your garden. Ideally, unused scraps of new drywall are best for amending soil without the concern of additional chemicals or mold. However, drywall with paint, mold, or potential asbestos requires specialized disposal by a professional and should be kept out of your garden.
