"Matt quoted us a price, and a time frame, and stuck to both even though an extra coat of paint was needed for most of the rooms. He is truly a class act. We are part-time residents in Fernandina Beach, and he worked around our schedule for when it was convenient for us both before and after the work. I truly and freely recommend him and his crew to take on your project."

"I am in the middle of a project with Duval Masters right now and I am beyond pleased. It started with an exterior paint job and has extended to getting our new-to-us house getting a complete kitchen facelift. They are doing tile and backsplash work for us. I talked to David Wednesday morning and by lunchtime he had a crew demo’ing our kitchen tile. We had another contractor already working and he made sure to accommodate them as well. When I walked into my home after the first half day I was pleasantly surprised how clean they work. They put up sheets to close off the entire workspace and protect my existing floors. I’m very much looking forward to the end result"

Small jobs welcome

"Pritchett Brothers Handyman Service is an exceptional contractor. I was impressed with the company from the first time I talked Robert on the phone. He has a calm and caring demeanor, which I thought was spectacular. He listened to all of my requests, concerns, and answered all of my questions. He quoted me a great price too. I hired them to paint the interior of my house and they started the job a few days later. He assured me that they would not complete the job until I was completely satisfied. I thought that was very honorable. They did such a great job painting the interior of my house. I was so pleased and impressed with the overall quality that I hired them to paint my garage, install two bathroom sinks, paint all three exterior doors, adjust front and back door locks, and adjust kitchen cabinet doors. Their attention to detail and customer service are unmatched. They strive on making the the customer satisfied. I recommend them to to four of my neighbors and my mother in lawâ s realtor. I normally donâ t recommend contractors to friends and family because I fear the contractor may do a poor job. I donâ t have a problem recommending this contractor because I have complete faith that they will do exceptional work. I normally do not write reviews, but I had to write a positive review this time because my experience very positive. Their customer service, quality of work, friendliness, timeliness and attention to detail are all top notch. If you want all these fore-mentioned qualities, this contractor is for you. I had a wonderful experience with this contractor. I am a very happy customer. They are very honorable. Job well done!"

Painting questions, answered by experts

Wood stain is typically dry to the touch within 6 to 12 hours, but it is not fully cured at this point. You should wait at least 24 hours before applying a second coat or a protective finish. For surfaces like decks, avoid walking on them for at least 24 to 48 hours, and wait even longer before placing furniture. The full curing process can take from 24 hours to one week, depending on the type of stain. Factors like high humidity and cold temperatures can extend drying and curing times, so it's wise to allow for extra time in these conditions.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.

100% acrylic latex lasts the longest for most siding. Premium 100% acrylic products carry lifetime warranties against peeling, blistering, and fading. Match the grade to your surface and climate for the best lifespan.

On most untreated wood fences, there is no need to sand before treating. You typically only need to sand if there’s an old coat of paint or stain on your fence. If you do need to sand off a previous paint or protective coating (like an old stain or sealant), use medium-grit sandpaper.

When applying multiple coats, wait four to six hours for each coat to dry. Not waiting long enough can result in streaks, peeling, and uneven color. Plus, it will be more difficult to discern where the second coat has already been applied.
