"When we bought our new home, we knew we had to refinish the hardwood flooring because it had some visible wear and tear. The first contractor who was recommended to us said it was not possible because the flooring is the hand scraped type wood which is impossible to sand due to the uneven characteristics of the wood, and he suggested we replace it with laminate. We decided to get a second opinion. I got on Home Advisor and Alex responded immediately. The next day he came over to inspect the job and based on his analysis of a piece of the wood, he convinced us there was enough thickness in the surface of the wood to sand. We hired Alex and he did a fantastic job! He is knowledgeable and very hardworking and he completed the work in the time frame he gave us. He is professional and has good customer service skills. Great job Alex!"

"We had a great experience with C&C Signature Floors. They were very professional, showed up on time, and were easy to communicate with. We also loved that they helped us choose and get the flooring material directly from their store, which made the whole process so much easier. The installation was clean and done with great attention to detail. Our floors look amazing and completely changed the look of our home. We are very happy with the results and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for quality flooring work."

"Patricia and here team were fantastic every step of the way. I shopped around and she offered a price for installation that could be beat. On top of the great price the instal of my laminate floors and stair case look amazing. There are no gaps at all and no two board ends line up which takes lots of planning. They were even able to relevel my sub floor to fix a squeak that was very annoying. Highly recommended"

Floor Sanding questions, answered by experts

You will find a collection of licensed land surveyors in your area. Your real estate agent or construction manager may also be able to recommend a trusted professional. When speaking with prospective pros in your area, ask the land surveyor if they are licensed in the state, have liability insurance, and can quote you a fee before starting.

A professional land surveyor ensures accurate property boundaries and prevent legal disputes.

Land surveys don’t technically expire. They do serve as a point of reference and a snapshot of your property, though, so as soon as you make changes to your property (and even if your neighbor makes certain changes to theirs), your existing land survey becomes inaccurate, and a new one must be done. Even if you don’t make any changes to your property, many states only guarantee the accuracy of a land survey for five to ten years.

A few different types of land surveys can help determine certain features and boundaries of your property. These include:

  • Boundary surveys describe the actual borders of a property. These are generally required when trying to get construction permits issued.

  • Location surveys provide much of the same information as a boundary survey but also include in-depth information about any improvements made to your property.

  • Mortgage location surveys are usually required by lenders and title companies before financing or offering an insurance policy.

  • Site-planning surveys are done before applying for building permits and can be issued before any major home improvements.

  • Topographic surveys provide a formal map of land elevations. It can also describe the location and size of natural features and any land improvements.

This is fairly rare, but sometimes the local government or a group like a historical society will label a tree as a landmark, or historical item. These designations almost always come with a small, on-site plaque for identification, but you should also be able to look up protected trees in your area on a city website or similar list. If the tree in question is a landmark, call your local government and ask how to proceed before making any plans.
