"Jame came promptly and did a great job trimming and thinning my 40 ft Queen Palm tree. He also cleaned up the mess very well, leaving the yard to look just as fabulous as it did before he came."

"Romero is a very professional person. He always come on time, does whatever promises. He does his job with pride and efficiency. His has a delightful, friendly personality. It is a pleasure dealing with him. He had a helper that accidentally cut off the papaya tree while mowing the lawn. When Romero learned about it, he came with a new tree and planted it for us. He refused to be paid for this, saying that he is responsible for mistakes that his helper did. I recommend him wholeheartedly. Thank you, Romero! I wish you luck and progress in everything you do!"

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

Unfortunately, lead dust does not look different from any other type of dust. You cannot detect it with the naked eye. To determine if you have lead dust in your home, you will need to hire a local company to take a sample from the paint and test it for you in a lab.

While not all homes built before 1978 contain lead paint, enough do, so you’ll still want to test to be on the safe side. The federal government banned lead-based paint for homes in 1978, but your state may have banned lead before that time. Around 24% of homes built between 1960 and 1977 contained lead-based paint, while 87% of homes built before 1940 contained lead-based paint.

It is safe to remove old linoleum, but it may require the help of a specialist due to the risk of asbestos in the material. Before you cut into linoleum or try to peel it up, have it tested for asbestos. If it tests positive, professionals will need to remove it to prevent the risk of health issues from airborne toxic particles. If it’s asbestos-free, DIY removal is possible and safe.

You do not have to remove lead paint if the surface is not chipping or peeling or if there are no pregnant people or children under the age of six who live in or regularly visit your home. Lead paint is a particular risk for young children whose brains and bodies are not fully developed. Experts strongly recommend that you call a pro to remove lead paint if it’s peeling or flaking, no matter who lives in the home. You can experience lead poisoning by breathing in or ingesting just a small amount of it.

Embarking on a kitchen demolition comes with its share of risks to keep in mind. Think of potential encounters with asbestos, sharp objects, and power tools—not to mention the peril of structures wobbling or unexpected plumbing surprises. And, of course, you will be surrounded by dust and debris throughout the process. All of the above makes safety gear necessary, or you can consider hiring a qualified professional.
