"We hired Mike to remodel two of our bathrooms at our beach house. To say that we are satisfied is an understatement. Mike and his crew showed up every day ahead of the time that he gave us and went right to work. He treated my house like it was his own the entire time. We installed a very difficult marble material with borders, and inlays which we were very nervous about it because we paid so much for the material. He put us at ease immediately explaining the entire process and layout that he would be doing. The bathrooms are amazing, and I cannot say enough about the entire experience. If you are looking for a true professional look no further. We are trying to talk him into coming to New York and remodel our main house. I will absolutely be hiring him again and passing along his information to everyone we know."

"Job was to expand the cutout in my granite countertop for a larger stove. It was done efficiently, accurately, and with a minimum of mess from the granite dust. Dania was friendly, professional, and made some good suggestions regarding the job."

Marble and Granite questions, answered by experts

Unsealed granite is more susceptible to staining and other damage. Regularly sealing your granite countertops decreases the chances you’ll need to repair damaged countertops in the future. It also keeps it looking shiny rather than becoming dull over time. You can check whether your granite needs resealing by putting a few drops of water on the counter and waiting 15 minutes to see whether the water permeates the surface.

Baking soda can damage some countertops, but it makes an excellent mild abrasive for removing stains on other countertops. For example, never use baking soda on quartz or glass countertops, but you can use it on laminate and tile. Stay away from using it on quartz because it can scratch and damage the counter, and glass is prone to scratches. Since baking soda is a mild abrasive, you can only use it on certain surfaces.

White quartz is a very low-maintenance countertop material. It’s nonporous, so it won’t stain, even if you spill dark liquids on it. The light color will make dirt show up much easier, but a simple wipe-down will keep the countertops looking fresh and bright for years to come. However, it might not be the best kitchen countertop idea on a budget because it's expensive.

One of the primary benefits of a soapstone countertop is that the material is heat-resistant. You can put a hot pan on soapstone, and it won’t scorch or crack. Despite being able to handle extreme heat, soapstone is much softer than granite, quartz and similar materials. This means that it scratches easily, so you should not prepare food directly on the surface.

Marble is a porous natural stone that needs sealant to minimize staining. Leaving this type of countertop material sealant-free means any liquids left on the surface will quickly absorb into the stone, discoloring it and dulling the sheen. Dark or acidic liquids, like red wine, coffee, and lemon, are the worst culprits.
