Small jobs welcome

"John and his two workers arrived right on time and promptly got to work. John was very friendly and very knowledgeable about his work. He explained what they would be doing, so my questions were answered before I asked. They did a great job cleaning and sealing my floor tiles. I will definitely use them again."

"Absolutely a first class experience. Simply the best contractor we have ever worked with. Luis responded within several hours to my inquiry, asked a few clarifying questions, requested a few pictures and responded with a rough quote within hours on a Thursday night. When we asked when he could start he showed up the following Monday morning when he said he would and worked tirelessly through Friday evening. The quality of the work was outstanding with our Travertine floors looking brand new. I would highly recommend Polished Stone. Rich R Key Largo"

"Eric did a fantastic job! He repaired a crack in my very large granite countertop. Not only did he fill, buff, and polish the cracked area, he used several different colors of epoxy to make the repair invisible. Eric obviously has an artistic eye and knew exactly how to blend the colors and patterns to make an amazing repair. We were so happy with his work that we had him clean out, refill and polish the seams where the stone slabs (very large countertop) were joined together and then polish and reseal the entire countertop and an adjacent one as well. My almost 17 year old counters look brand new. Eric was professional, courteous, and an extremely hard worker. He cleaned up the granite dust and left the kitchen very clean. The fee was very reasonable. I would heartily recommend Sunshine Luxury Remodeling and definitely plan to hire them in the future for my next project."

Stone Countertops questions, answered by experts

Clorox wipes contain bleach, which is unsafe for use on quartz countertops. When used over time, the bleach will damage the countertop surface and cause it to become discolored or damaged. Instead of Clorox wipes, use a pH-neutral multipurpose solution and clean the surface gently using a soft microfiber cloth.

The cost to install a kitchen island ranges from $900 to $6,500, with an average price of around $4,800. The final cost depends on whether you buy a prefabricated unit or have one custom-built. Prefabricated kitchen islands are generally cheaper. A simple prefabricated cart can cost between $150 and $900, while a permanent, stationary prefabricated island costs from $900 to $5,000. A custom-built kitchen island averages around $4,800 but can cost $10,000 or more depending on factors like materials, size, design complexity, and accessibility.

Using water when cutting stone drastically reduces the amount of dust that comes off the stone. It’s beneficial to cut down on the amount of dust for respiratory and other safety reasons, such as keeping your vision clear while using an electric tool. Even with protective eyewear, the dust can still cloud your safety glasses. You should always wear protective gear when cutting stone.

Quartz countertops are not recommended for outdoor use. While durable indoors, they are not designed to withstand outdoor conditions like sunlight, weather, and high heat from barbeque grills. Exposure to these elements, particularly UV rays, can cause the resins in the quartz to break down, leading to discoloration and damage to the surface. For a longer-lasting outdoor countertop, it is better to choose a natural stone like granite, which has greater resistance to these elements.

Onyx countertops are naturally porous, absorbing liquids and staining easily without proper care. Regular sealing every 6 to 12 months is essential to keep them looking their best. Daily maintenance includes wiping up spills immediately and avoiding harsh cleaners or acidic substances that can etch the surface.
