"It was very pleasant to work with O'Briens drywall. What impressed me was the fact that there was excellent communication at any time during the work process and that they do not overbook beyond capacity, specially being still in the hurricane Ian aftermath. I had my entire garage ceiling replaced as well as drywall and ceiling replacement in the sunroom. I hired them on Friday and the next week by Thursday the work had been finished. O'Briens drywall takes only a limited amount of customers per week to ensure that there is no week-long or even months-long waiting period for the customer. Great job, thank you O'Briens Drywall."

"I hired The Patch Boys to repair four painted drywall seams. The entire process was flawless, from beginning to end. Each person, starting with Lisa in customer service, was professional, courteous, and thorough. I couldnâ t be happier. I have recommended them to several people, and I would use them again. Thanks for the great service!"

"The original project was to repair/replace a few siding boards that had rotted due to water intrusion. Not only did he replace the rotten boards, but he corrected a separate siding issue under windows on the deck. He also repaired drywall by the water leak on the inside and a few spots on ceilings where there were separate water issues. He was very prompt and did an excellent job. I would highly recommend his work and would hire him again."

Customers say: Quality work

"They did an exceptional job professionally installing drywall and Durock. The job was a rebuild after a water/mold remediation situation. They rebuilt what had been previously removed. Their work included rebuilding portions of 23 walls and 2 ceiling areas, repairing ceiling and wall areas around rebuilt electrical wiring, and miscellaneous damaged areas (holes, etc.). Their work was very professionally completed and ready to paint, with no visible seams remaining, texture restored to match surrounding areas (orange peel on walls, popcorn ceiling). Great job, I would hire again."

"They were absolutely fantastic. They are honest. The workers have to do the actual lining down of the countertops. Their repairs were tended to impeccably before they started the work. They rounded the hard edges. They removed a cutting board. They did all kinds of things for me. I would highly recommend the company to anyone needing countertop work. Their costs were at least 75% less expensive than an installation of marble or stone countertops."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Ceiling-mounted curtains won’t damage the ceiling if they’re installed properly. Using the right anchors or securing the brackets into joists will ensure the curtain weight is properly supported and prevent damage. However, overtightening screws, using weak anchors, or repeatedly removing and reinstalling hardware in the same spot can cause cracking or sagging over time. In that case, you might have to call a pro for ceiling repair.

Yes, you can speed up the time it takes for plaster to dry, but it's important to do so carefully to avoid issues like cracking or crumbling. Proper ventilation is key; open a window or use a fan to circulate air in the room. Heat can also accelerate drying, but be cautious, as too much heat can cause the plaster to dry too quickly and crack. Check the plaster's packaging for the recommended drying temperature and set the room's thermostat accordingly. While managing humidity is important, avoid using a dehumidifier, which can remove moisture too aggressively and result in crumbly plaster.

While it’s most common to sand plaster dry, it is possible to wet-sand plaster, too. Doing so can reduce the amount of plaster dust released into the air and make it easier to work in smaller, more delicate areas (such as around wall trim). However, some people find that wet sanding leads to more imperfections, which is why larger walls are more often dry sanded to ensure an even finish.

Which style of corner bead you choose—whether metal or paper-faced—depends on your preference and if you’re comfortable using metal-cutting tools and a hammer. Metal bead offers superior strength and durability but its installation is slightly more involved. We’d say for most cases, it’s better to use metal bead but if you’re not comfortable working with metal, paper-faced bead will work just fine.

Yes, you can mount a TV on plaster walls—as long as you attach it to the studs. Alternatively, you can use toggle bolts, molly bolts, or another type of hardware that’s strong enough to support a TV.

If you aren’t comfortable with this type of project, you can hire a pro. The cost of mounting a TV to a plaster wall ranges from $25 to $600 (or more), depending on the TV’s weight, size, and other factors.
