"What can I tell you about a Great Customer Service for Drywall. It started after Hurricane Ian had hit my hometown of Venice. I was looking to find a Company that does drywall. Apparently not many people do that type of work. However, when I googled Drywall near me. The Patch Boys of Sarasota and Bradenton appeared in the search. They have a 5-star rating, So I called them, and left a message. Not knowing when and if I they would return my phone call. not only did Rick call me back on a Friday evening after hours. But so did Lisa called on a Sunday. To confirm the appointment for that week! Talk about excellent customer service. When the day arrived for the appointment to see what work was to be done. Rick called me and said they had a cancelation, and could they come over 1 hour before the appointment. Apon coming over, Rick and his crew were very friendly, and was able to take pictures of the damaged porch. The appointment was set within 2 weeks, and we were ready to get the job finished. They arrived the day of the appointment. Did an excellent job and did not leave a mess. And cleaned up after themselves. Within a couple of days after the job was completed. Lisa again called me to see how satisfied I was with the work. I told her that I was very pleased the way they treated me as a customer. from the start of finding them to the follow up phone call. If you are looking for a Drywall Company, I would recommend The Patch Boys of Sarasota and Bradenton. They are very professional and caring company. That not only does an excellent job, but also cares about their customers."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

You should wait at least 24 hours for drywall mud to dry before sanding or applying another coat. However, the exact drying time depends on several factors, including the thickness of the application, room temperature, humidity, and the type of compound used. Thicker layers, or projects in high humidity, may require 48 hours or more. Lightweight compounds tend to dry faster than heavier, all-purpose ones. You'll know the mud is ready when it feels completely dry and firm to the touch and has changed to a consistent light color. Sanding too early can cause smudging or gouges, so patience is essential for a smooth finish.

Most drywall used for interior walls of homes is 1/2-inch thick. This size strikes a balance of being easy to handle and hang while being thick enough for the durability needed on interior wall applications.

Yes, you can hammer a nail into a wall stud. But before you do, it’s important to confirm that you’re actually nailing into a stud—and not wiring, pipes, or ductwork. To check, find a few more studs in the wall, then measure to make sure they’re either 16 or 24 inches apart.

Drywall insulation costs around $1,800, on average, but prices can range from $500 to $4,500, depending on a few different factors. The following things are important considerations to make when pricing out your insulation project:

  • Square footage of insulation

  • Type of insulation

  • Climate in your area and the insulation R-value required

  • Whether or not your walls are already finished

  • Accessibility of the area

  • Whether or not you need old insulation removed first

While you can put new drywall over old drywall, it’s not always the best option. In some cases, drywalling over drywall can make it harder to find wires and pipes behind your walls and conceal more serious problems with your walls. It can also make the room smaller. On the plus side, putting drywall over drywall can improve soundproofing and insulation. Plus, it’s often less expensive than tearing down and adding new drywall.
