"David Gray installed my heat pump sometime ago. I have always signed up for the maintenance packet. A guy came out and found a non-working part. It seemed to be working properly but wasn't. Kevin found the nonworking part. Then William installed the part and I see a difference in the comfort level. They ordered the part and within 48 hours had it installed. I have 10 year parts and labor so this cost me nothing. Kevin saved me a ton of money. I am impressed with their customer service and have used them for over 17 years now. Kevin found the problem and William completed the repair. Teamwork! Thanks fellas! I - and my family - appreciate all your good work!"

"Elmer came out within less than an hour from the time of quote. He charged exactly what he said he would and was transparent about prices prior to making fixes. He replaces the capacitor and then turns out the outdoor motor fan was broken, he went out of his was to get us a preowned part the same day to save us some money. No one loves spending the extra money, but overall the experience was pleasant. He was professional, timely, and our AC is now up and running."

"Our AC unit quit working last May. We met & received bids from several franchises in Jacksonville, but were not satisfied. After meeting with Thomas Measday we decided to support his local small business. Thomas & team are honest, professional and took time to explain and answer all our questions. They took under 5 hours to install a complete new system!! It’s been a year and we are completely satisfied. We highly recommend Measday as they are a 5 star company."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

If your AC condenser is nearing the end of its life, it might leak fluid or make loud or unusual sounds (like grinding or hissing). You might also notice that it isn’t heating your home as evenly or effectively as it once did. Also, an aging condenser will have to work harder to cool your home, which may force it to use more power and drive up your utility bills.

Running an air conditioner with mold is not safe because it can spread harmful mold spores throughout your home. Exposure to these spores can trigger various health problems, including respiratory issues, allergies, coughing, wheezing, sneezing, itchy eyes, and a sore throat. It may also aggravate asthma in household members. Continued exposure can increase the risk of more serious illnesses like sinus infections, pneumonia, and bronchitis. If you suspect mold in your air conditioner, you should stop using the system until it has been properly cleaned to avoid health risks and further contamination.

HVAC companies may charge an hourly rate or a flat fee. Hourly rates typically range from $100 to $250 per hour, with an average around $175. Some contractors charge a flat fee for specific services, such as an inspection, which can cost between $150 and $500. The total cost of an HVAC service is influenced by several factors, including: the urgency of the service (emergency repairs after hours or on holidays cost more), the time of year, the type, size, and brand of your HVAC system, the specific repair needed, and whether you have a service contract.

While it's generally safe to stay in a home with a coolant leak if your home is properly ventilated, it's important to have a professional come out to assess the situation right away. You should evacuate your home if you notice any powerful fumes. Additionally, you should leave your home if you are experiencing headaches or dizziness.

The best way to reduce heat upstairs is to release it by opening a window. Hot air rises, and if you can create some airflow by opening a window upstairs and also one on a lower level, the hot air should be pushed out of the home. Remember that fans pointing out the window do a much better job of circulating air than fans pointing into the home.
