"Let me start by saying, from beginning to end, all the employees at Jack C Wilson are very professional, courteous and very good at what they do. Chris Voss wrote our estimate and answered all our questions. He gave us several options on materials and an extended warranty. He was very easy to work with and helped us on some special requests and changes we needed to make. He gave us his cell number and said to call if we had any additional questions or concerns. The crew was onsite at 7 AM and immediately began site preparation which included covering our plants and shrubs and shielding our heat pump and pool equipment. The removal of the old roof and installation of the new went exactly as expected with no surprises. They were careful and didn’t damage any of our landscape. Before they left that evening, the new roof had been completed. The crew worked very hard and stayed focused. They picked up all the trash and nails leaving little to be done the following day. The crew came back bright and early the next day to complete all clean up and remove all leftover materials. The chimney chase received new Hardee board siding, chimney cap and paint to match our trim. The carpenter’s work on the chimney chase was first rate and much better than the original. We were very pleased with the entire process. The work was exceptional down to the smallest detail. The entire process was conducted with professionalism and attention to detail. The materials and workmanship were top notch. The customer service at Jack C Wilson Roofing is second to none. We highly recommend them and give them a 5-star rating!!!"

The cost to move a gas line is around $500 on average or $20 per linear foot . A pro will carefully disconnect the existing gas line and reroute it to its new path. This may involve excavation if the line is underground or drywall work to repair your walls and ceilings. The best sealant for gas pipes is usually a pipe joint compound, or pipe dope. It creates a durable, leak-proof seal that is resistant to high pressure and vibrations, and it doesn’t break down like tape can. Yellow Teflon tape, or PTFE tape, can also be a good option and is a safe and reliable sealant for gas pipes when you or a pro apply it correctly.

Even if you invested in the cost of a gas shut-off valve for your oven and other appliances, it’s a good idea to add a seismic shut-off valve as an extra safety measure. 

Gas shut-off valves for appliances are manual, meaning someone has to cut off the flow of gas. This leaves room for error, as you might not be home or might be too distracted to think about gas lines during an earthquake. An earthquake valve is automatic and will protect your home from gas-related disasters in the event of an earthquake.

Some people don’t like the look of gas fireplaces since they don’t offer the classic charm or appeal of a wood-burning fire. Plus, gas fireplace installation is more expensive than other types of fireplace installations due to the added complexity of working with gas lines. There’s also a chance that gas could get into your home, which is a major health and safety risk.
