"Issues identified on the home inspection needed to be corrected; these items were minor, though unsure of how long it would take I purchased two hours. Since there was an hour left two ceiling fans were replaced. (I had already purchased the ceiling fans, though I am unable to install them myself.) Joel was very personable, professional and efficient. I highly recommend Atlantic Electric!

"Crew,Mike & Riley shows up on time ready to go to work. We go over work with them and they did already know what the job was. Mike worked on moving the light switches while Riley started on removing old kitchen ceiling lights and installing new LED can lights & a new pendant light over sink. All work was completed by lunch time and professional done. Loved working with power usa. The people are always easy to work with and they will explain things to so even I can understand how it works. I have used this company several times since moving to Florida a year and 1/2 ago."

"Had to come back to redo the work - the fan he installed stopped working properly within 24 hrs. The initial charge was ridiculous. We stopped payment on the check, and they adjusted the bill down 50%."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

To determine if your ceiling box can support a fan, you must check if it is specifically fan-rated. Manufacturers are required to indicate this on the box itself. You may need to remove the existing light fixture to look inside the ceiling box for an inscription stating it is rated for fan use. If you do not see this confirmation, the box is likely not strong enough and must be replaced with a fan-rated junction box. For a proper and safe installation, you should also use a fan brace to secure the new box between the ceiling joists, which provides the necessary support for the fan's weight and motion.

There are several telltale signs to let you know that your ceiling fan needs servicing or replacement. For instance, if it’s wobbling, rotating too slowly, or if your ceiling fan is making noise such as squeaks, buzzes, and thumps, it’s time to have it looked at by a professional. Not only may it indicate a potential problem with the fan itself, but it could also signal a red flag that it’s improperly assembled or there’s an issue with the wiring.

Keeping dust off fans can keep them working optimally and help keep dust mites or bacteria from building up. Dust fans weekly with a duster, microfiber cloth, old pillowcase, or vacuum attachment. You can also try spraying a clean fan with a store-bought dust-repellent product or making a DIY dust-repellent with water and a small amount of liquid fabric softener mixed in.

Stainless steel or aluminum fans are long-lasting and have less air resistance. They are best for outdoor use as their durability helps them withstand unpleasant weather conditions. Their heavy weight requires a stronger motor, which leads to more noise than other blade materials.

Wooden fan blades are a classic, durable option. They are much quieter than metal fans and feature a wide range of styles and finishes to choose from. However, they can be damaged by moisture if not covered with plastic.

Plastic fan blades are lightweight, easy to clean, and versatile. There are various shapes and styles to choose from as plastic is easily molded and dyed. They will also deteriorate slower than other materials as they aren’t as susceptible to humidity and moisture.

No, a ceiling fan doesn’t have to be wired to a switch, but it’s often more convenient. You can use the included pull chain if your ceiling isn’t too high or install a remote module later, as they are a cheap, easy-to-install option that’ll let you control both the fan and light fixture.
