"Now I can't fault them for the faulty fan but what I didn't like was their price to install it. It took the guy ten minutes to put a new fan in and the price was outrageous it was like almost $300.  I complained to them back and forth and they did reduce it maybe 20 bucks but that was crazy.  I just didn't like their pricing.  That was almost all labor."

"A medical need suddenly required us to purchase a deep freezer. Inexplicably, there were no outlets in our utility room so the freezer was temporarily in our dining room. This had to change! Also, we had recently purchased a new ceiling light so the timing was good to bundle up these electrical projects.
We contacted John, from Aarrow Electrical. He gave a verbal quote over the phone and, although he had a busy schedule, he worked to fit us in relatively quickly. Given our medical storage need, I appreciated this.
He and his apprentice arrived on time and worked at a brisk pace. They kept me informed of my options and followed through on my requests. The GFI outlet was quickly installed with no problems. The ceiling light required a bit more work but they removed the old light, installed a new junction box, quick-patched the old location and installed a new light. The installation was tricky but they were patient and the new light looks great.

"AMAZING !! I contacted Clavier Electric for a 2nd opinion when the 1st company I called gave me an estimate of $8,624.00 to find and repair what was causing the power outage in my family room. I saw Clavier Electric was listed on Angi's List and had excellent reviews and called them. That call SAVED me $8,484.00. Yes, that is correct - $8,484.00. Justin and his helper found the problem immediately (something with a wire in a wall outlet); repaired it; then repaired a ceiling light fixture; and next, a guest bath light in a little over an hour. My home is an older lake home that has been remodeled and added on over the years making the electrical system much more complicated than a new construction would have been. I think Justin is an expert at solving complicated electrical problems related to housing, especially older homes. I feel so fortunate to have found Justin and Clavier Electric. They will be the first company I will call when I have any electrical problem in the future."

"It went well the technician was professional and the communication was great. I was disappointed that Choice Home put a cap on the ceiling fan price. I feel it works better if you base your price off of what fan the customer has and not a standard price"

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Whether you can install a ceiling fan yourself depends on if you're replacing an existing fixture or installing one where no wiring exists. If you are replacing an existing fan, an experienced DIYer may be able to do the job, which can save on labor costs. This work typically doesn’t require a permit, but there’s always a safety risk when dealing with electrical components, so hiring a pro is still a good idea, especially if you aren't handy. Keep in mind you may need a special ladder for high or vaulted ceilings. However, if you are installing a new ceiling fan where there is no current fixture, you must hire a licensed electrician. In most areas, it is required by law that a professional runs new wiring and pulls the necessary permits. Attempting to install wiring yourself can be dangerous and a code violation.

To convert a ceiling fan to wireless, you’ll need to install a canopy module to access the lighting and fan controls. Many options are available, all of which help you control specific elements of your ceiling fan, so you have plenty of choices depending on your needs.

Ceiling fans are very often worth the investment because they improve comfort in your living space and help reduce utility bills. In the late spring and early fall—and even in the summer in some areas—homeowners with ceiling fans can often get away with open windows and fans, which can cut down on cooling bills and also reduce wear and tear on the HVAC system. Over time, ceiling fans can pay for themselves by saving you money on electric bills and air conditioner repair and maintenance.

If the fan doesn’t have a switch, connect the white wire from the ceiling to the white wire from the fan; connect the green wire to the ground wire; connect both black wires; and connect both blue wires. If yours has a switch, the white and green wires are connected the same way. However, connect the ceiling’s red wire to the light’s black wire and the ceiling’s black wire to the fan’s black wire.

Generally, a ceiling fan should be mounted at least seven feet from the floor in the center of your room with a wall clearance of around 18 inches. If your ceiling is more than eight feet high, it’s recommended by experts that the ceiling fan be mounted around eight to nine feet from the ground. This helps ensure a better quality of circulated airflow.
