"Sometimes, being a homeowner can be a nightmare. Things break at the most in opportune times. Things break repeatedly. You do all your research and think youâ re hiring the best person possible, and you get totally screwed. You can really wear you down and make you lose all faith in humanity. And then you get lucky: you find somebody who replies quickly, doesnâ t speak a foreign language, treats, you like a human, has a sense of humor, and does everything possible to make you as a customer happy. Thatâ s Joe. We had a leak in the slab of our house. All the pipes had to be rerouted and we ended up with 12 very large holes in our walls and ceiling inside and outside the house. Joe responded quickly, and was at our house that same day. Because we have been treated so poorly by so many contractors, we were waiting for the other shoe to drop. It never did. Joe charged a reasonable price, showed up every day without delay, and was honest and forthright about everything he did. He did not subcontract anything out, but did bring along an apprentice, who was far better than the vast majority of licensed contractors Iâ ve had work at my house. Joe was kind, he was efficient, and his prices were more than fair. Through absolutely no fault of Joeâ s, we are still having issues with the plumbing in our house, but the drywall looks fabulous! We will be hiring him for many future jobs."

"Carlos was very good, on time, covered all furniture and floors and when the job was complete the work area was spotless. I would recommend him to anyone!!! His work was 5 Star, I needed to add 6” to a wall and you couldn’t even see where the extension started. Excellent excellent work. I highly recommend Carlos for any drywall work you might need"

Small jobs welcome

"I needed a small drywall job done (my plumber left 3 holes in my bathroom). Diona reached out to me immediately and followed up as I was not available to chat when she initially called. They were able to give me a quote based on my pictures and measurements and scheduled for the very next day. Diona reached out to me first thing in the morning to confirm my appointment that day and both she and James arrived exactly on time. James was quick, clean and professional. I can't even see where the holes were. They were a total pleasure to deal with. I would highly recommend them."

"I have dealt with a lot of different contractors and my experience with Larrondo Demolition and Services was exceptional. They painted my entire house and also had to repair drywall due to leaks along with a few other jobs. They did a beautiful job and were a pleasure to deal with. Their work was neat and clean and priced fairly. I handed over all the problems I was having with my house and they just took care of it. I recommend them highly."

Customers say: Quality work

"I did not take any other bid because I was very impressed with his knowledge of my problem. I had a water heater break and flood. I originally put in a request for cabinet installation. Sergio was able to do not only the cabinets but he replaced the granite, reconnected the plumbing, built the wall behind the cabinets and painted! He is very talented in many aspects of home repair and remodeling. I'm telling everyone about him!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Plaster is a beautiful finish but is labor-intensive to install and remove. It’s vulnerable to cracking and more sensitive to moisture variance than drywall. Installing plaster on a new wall is an expensive process that can take days to weeks, depending on the scope. Removing a plaster wall can also be quite expensive and time-consuming.

It is more difficult to drywall a ceiling than it is to drywall a wall, but not so hard that DIYers can’t tackle it. One of the main issues with hanging drywall on your ceiling is getting it into place. Drywall isn’t light so, if you are hanging full drywall panels, you will need at least two (it’s better with more) people to hold the panel while you drill it into the ceiling as a single piece can weigh between 40 and 60 pounds and will need to be held in place for up to 10 minutes.

Although they have similar applications, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Their primary differences lie in their composition, consistency, and ideal use cases.

Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it thicker than joint compound. It dries quickly and is easy to sand, which makes it ideal for small wall repair projects like filling nail holes or patching minor damage.

Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum. It is primarily used for large-scale projects, such as taping and finishing the seams on newly installed drywall. It tends to shrink more than spackle and can be more difficult to spread.

While both products can be used to fill small depressions and cracks, spackle cannot replace joint compound for taping and mudding new drywall. Conversely, you can often use joint compound for small patching jobs typically done with spackle.

Very little. One inch of water can stain walls, warp wood, and create a perfect environment for mold growth. One to two inches of water can do significant damage to drywall, insulation, and electrical systems. Anything over that is considered an extensive flood, often resulting in severe structural damage.

You should wait at least 24 hours for drywall mud to dry before sanding or applying another coat. However, the exact drying time depends on several factors, including the thickness of the application, room temperature, humidity, and the type of compound used. Thicker layers, or projects in high humidity, may require 48 hours or more. Lightweight compounds tend to dry faster than heavier, all-purpose ones. You'll know the mud is ready when it feels completely dry and firm to the touch and has changed to a consistent light color. Sanding too early can cause smudging or gouges, so patience is essential for a smooth finish.
