"They scheduled the job,, and reported rigt on time,, Did a good job and very concious to keeping the garage area clean and free of spill offs during the install pumping operation. The workers were very polite,, answered any question I had, and I could see they were dedicated to there employer, about doing a fine acceptable job.. "Jason Gliszczynski is AMAZING at building a staircase. I hired a contractor outside of HomeAdvisor and boy do I regret it! That contractor destroyed my staircase dream reno. Jason came and looked at all the disaster and was able to take the staircase completely out and rebuild it so beautifully. He did what the previous person could NOT do in 4 months in just 2 days! Instead of the nightmare staircase it was, it is now my dream come true staircase. My husband and I are very happy every time we go up and down our stairs. We HIGHLY recommend him!!"

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Baseboards don’t have to be nailed into studs. However, nailing them into studs adds to their stability. When studs aren’t available, you can secure them with drywall nails directly into the drywall and adhesive. Always aim to nail into studs, especially in high-traffic or impact-prone areas.

Traditionally, bungalows are single-story homes, although having a half or partial story on top of the first floor is common. While adding a second story to a bungalow is certainly possible, the home would no longer be considered a bungalow by the strictest definition.

Yes, using certified lumber and engineered wood products for reduced environmental impact.

There are a few easy ways to locate a wall stud without a stud finder. First, try knocking on the wall with your knuckles. Most parts of the wall will sound hollow, but when you tap over a stud, it will sound more solid. Alternatively, since studs are spaced 16 or 24 inches apart, you can measure those distances from a corner of the room, which will always have a stud.

You should avoid drilling or cutting into load-bearing beams because removing material will weaken it and increase the risk of structural damage or even collapse. If you do need to drill into a load-bearing beam, speak with a structural engineer first to discuss where it’s safest to drill and the width and depth of the bit that’s safe to use.
