Customers say: Quick response

"They were very helpful and courteous. There was a bit of a language barrier but that did not cause any issues. I chose the wrong paint color for one section of a wall, but they could not repaint that wall without adding an extra charge, so I painted it myself as best I could. My closets and living room look much better and I can move furniture back in the rooms."

"Jesus saved me with a difficult water leak I had in my garage. He located the leak which ended up being under my slab. He was persistent in finding the leak and once found he did what was necessary to stop leak. Some drywall had to be removed and had to cut and go under slab to find leak. He made all repairs to drywall and concrete slab like nothing even happen. Since that Iâ  ve used Jesus for other fixes. Jesus is very reliable, does good work and his prices are reasonable. I would recommend him to others."

"The service man Sead did a wonderful job completing multiple handymen tasks in my home including installing a fancy chandelier, assembling a kitchen barstool, hanging up a large wall clock into concrete wall, some interior painting, and some small odd jobs. He shows up on time, very reliable and gets the job done! ✔️ 😃"

Customers say: True professional

"We contacted Jesus recently because we had a bunch of small projects we needed to have completed. He made sure to let us know when he was available and while he might have been a little late in certain instances, it was never a big deal. He's busy, so it's expected. The worked he performed was high quality. He installed a couple of bathroom fixtures and repaired the bathroom ceiling. He also fixed our bay window sill, which was a mess. Finally, he helped to sand our wood stairs and railings. One critique I would have is his lack of communication when it comes to pricing. Other than that I would recommend and I would like to use him again."

"I had Lidio come in to repair some crevices I had in my soffits from past termite damage and he did a great job repairing the damage. He was able to do the soffit repairs in under a day on my two-story home and he was also very punctual. I was also impressed by his attention to detail. Lidio was also very flexible with scheduling so it made it very convenient for me. I would definitely recommend hiring Lidio."

"In never had to clean up after Jose. he did extra little things. He did drywall work on my living room wall and my guest bathroom wall. In my inspection report, I was referred to a structural engineer! My walls were BAD. Now they are perfect! Then Jose painted my complete condo. It looks like a new place. Beautiful. I would recommend Jose."

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

Railroad ties can be good for retaining walls, but it depends on the area. They have a desirable rustic look and are durable. The problem is they’re treated with creosote, a preservative the EPA says poses a risk to humans and wildlife. Over time, the preservative seeps out of the wood and into the ground. Many areas have banned the use of creosote-treated wood on residential properties. If your area does allow it, never use railroad ties near an edible garden or drinking water source. Instead, use wood that’s treated with an EPA-approved preservative or a wood-alternative composite material.

DIY is possible for small projects. Professional installation ensures structural integrity and durability for larger walls.

The lifespan of a retaining wall varies based on its material, installation quality, maintenance, and local climate, with an average range of 20 to 100 years. Retaining walls made from durable materials like concrete, stone, and brick generally last a minimum of 50 years. Concrete walls typically last between 50 and 100 years, while brick can last for over a century in ideal conditions. Timber retaining walls can last from 20 to 40 years, depending on the wood quality, and pressure-treated wood walls average around 30 years. It is important to note that a retaining wall can fail prematurely if it was poorly constructed, for example, with inefficient footings or without necessary rebar reinforcements.

There are contractors specifically trained in the design and construction of retaining walls. Retaining wall contractors are skilled at dealing with the soil on your property and assessing what kind of drainage should be installed. They will recommend the best materials to use for the project and can handle the processing of permits by local authorities.

Generally, a railroad tie retaining wall consisting of a single line of ties should be between 3 and 4 feet tall—and the height often tops out at around 6 feet. You can go taller, but you may need additional footings and reinforcements, including a second layer of railroad ties to support the added weight of the soil it’s holding back.
