"Excellent! I have contractors doing work in my yard. They managed to blow out several electric outlets, by leaving a live cord in the pouring rain. Needless to say I was frustrated, not knowing the extent of the damage, on a brand new electrical box. ( Installed by my hero’s Mr. Electric) John Kane came to my rescue, this time. Not certain John knows what a caring and calming presence he has, in addition to his professionalism. I’ll be asking for John to return to install a circuit breaker on my panel, in the near future! Thanks John."

"From estimate to start up of generator, the GenereX team was professional, knowledgeable, responsive, and performed quality workmanship. GenereX did it all as advertised. I would like to commend individuals for a job well done: Jack (estimate & followup); Dustin and crew (installation); Ryan and Danny (electrical); Cosmo (natural gas); Matt (startup). Due to my experience, I would definitely recommend GenereX!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

New homeowners in Inverness should prioritize upgrading outdated electrical panels, installing GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor areas, and adding whole-house surge protection. Preparing for hurricane season by setting up a generator connection and improving outdoor lighting for safety is also wise. Schedule an early electrical inspection to ensure all work meets Inverness’s safety standards and addresses any hidden issues.

Helpful?

In Inverness, homeowners often skip required permits, misplace GFCI outlets, or overlook the need for a panel upgrade in older homes. DIY work on main panels is risky and can lead to code violations. Failing to install surge protection or prepare generator connections before storm season is also common. Always schedule an electrical inspection and follow local codes to avoid safety hazards.

Helpful?

If you notice frequent power loss isolated to your home, GFCI outlets that reset often, flickering lights when large appliances run, burning odors, or unusually warm outlets, these are signs you likely need electrical work in Inverness. Given the area’s older homes and humid climate, corrosion and outdated wiring are common issues, so prompt electrical inspection is recommended for safety.

Helpful?

Keep a non-contact voltage tester, GFCI outlet tester, insulated screwdrivers, and a digital multimeter for basic electrical tasks in Inverness. Stock marine-grade wire nuts, electrical tape, dielectric grease to combat humidity, and weatherproof outlet covers. Have spare GFCI outlets, surge protectors, and heavy-duty generator cords ready. Emergency lighting and portable chargers are also essential for power outages common in the area.

Helpful?

Establish a routine by testing GFCI outlets monthly, especially before hurricane season in Inverness. Inspect outdoor wiring for corrosion, check surge protectors, and clear vegetation from power lines. During storms, watch for water intrusion or loose connections. After storm season, look for moisture damage and schedule a professional electrical inspection annually. Consistent checks help prevent issues related to Inverness’s humidity and severe weather.
