"Excellent! I have contractors doing work in my yard. They managed to blow out several electric outlets, by leaving a live cord in the pouring rain. Needless to say I was frustrated, not knowing the extent of the damage, on a brand new electrical box. ( Installed by my hero’s Mr. Electric) John Kane came to my rescue, this time. Not certain John knows what a caring and calming presence he has, in addition to his professionalism. I’ll be asking for John to return to install a circuit breaker on my panel, in the near future! Thanks John."

"I used this company two years ago fro upgrade my electrical panel an they did a great job at a very reasonable price. A month ago I experienced a situation where most of the lights in my home were flashing on and off. I was getting ready to call In charge when suddenly the flashing stopped and everything went back to normal. Last night the same thing started again this time with the power browning out at the same time. First thing this morning I called In Charge and shorty thereafter an electrition by the name of Robert Bates arrived. After meeting me at the front of my home ha asked me to describe what was going on. I told him and he stated Che had seen this several times before and advised me to call Duke electric and have them check it out first . He said there was no sense paying him several hundred dollars if it was something Duke would fix for free. He advised to call back if Duke couldnâ t help me. I called Duk who arrived in 30 minutes and after examining the wires coming to my home found that one was defective. He repaired it and left. No cost to me. Not even a service call fee from In Charge. I would strongly suggest for any electrical work look no further than In Charge and Robert Bates."

Electrical FAQs, answered by experts

After finishing electrical projects in The Villages, schedule required inspections to confirm code compliance and update your homeowner’s insurance with details of the work. Notify your HOA or property management about any upgrades, and keep organized records of permits, warranties, and maintenance schedules. Given the local climate, consider installing surge protection and plan for annual electrical safety checks before hurricane season for ongoing protection.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in The Villages, choose wiring rated for high humidity, such as THWN-2 or XHHW, and use PVC conduit for outdoor runs. Opt for corrosion-resistant outlets and weatherproof covers, especially for exterior installations. Stainless steel or aluminum panel boxes are ideal for durability. Consider whole-home surge protection and generator-ready transfer switches to address local storm risks and support electrical reliability.

Helpful?

In The Villages, enhance electrical safety by installing tamper-resistant outlets and GFCI outlets in areas exposed to moisture. Use cord covers and secure loose wires to prevent tripping or chewing hazards for pets. Add illuminated switches and motion-sensor lighting for convenience. Clearly label your electrical panel and keep it locked to prevent access by children or guests, supporting overall electrical safety in your home.

Helpful?

New homeowners in The Villages should start by upgrading to GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor spaces, and installing interconnected, hardwired smoke detectors. Inspect and label the electrical panel, especially in homes built before 2000. Add surge protection, outdoor lighting, and prepare for smart home integration to improve electrical safety, convenience, and support the unique needs of the community.

Helpful?

In The Villages, consider scheduling electrical projects if your home is over 20 years old, you notice frequent breaker trips, flickering lights, or warm outlets. Homes with outdated panels or aluminum wiring should be evaluated. Plan updates before hurricane season, after major renovations, or if you’re adding smart home features or medical equipment to maintain electrical safety and support your home’s value.
