"I had a crawl space encapsulation done three years ago. The work was professionally done by competent friendly patient professionals willing to answer any and all questions about their work. Most recently I had tech Bradley Innocent conduct the annual inspection of the work, replace the filter in the dehumidifier and survey the property for any potential problems. This young man was professional, efficient, and explained what he was there to do and why. Companies need more competent professionals like him."

"Best of the best! Jackson and Lucas (J and L) are consummate professionals who have deep and comprehensive knowledge of building and construction. They (and their tradesmen) do amazing work of the highest quality. Nothing but praise for this amazing team. The project started out as a small job with some light carpentry and some painting. Once we saw the quality of their work, we ended up completely renovating the entire condo including two new full baths! Oh and not to be overlooked, Jackson and Lucas are two of the nicest people I have ever met. I can’t say enough about these guys!"

"Gedeon quoted us the best prices for the labor. They remodeled the guest bath and the master bath. I purchased the items needed, tub, tiles, cabinets, fixtures and shower doors. Valentine was wonderful and very polite. He worked with our schedule when we had to skip some days. He even built me a new linen closet. At the end of the day he would leave the areas very neat. We are hiring them to do my kitchen remodel next. I highly recommend this company!!!!"

"I highly recommend Armored Impact Windows and Doors. My husband and I recently moved to south FL and we were scared from the horror stories we heard about hurricane season. We wanted to make sure our family and our home would be safe through this transition. We came across this wonderful company, who not only informed us about all the pros, but made the process so easy and convenient for us. Since install, our light bill has gone down significantly because of their energy saving technology that only allows a certain amount of heat energy into our home. The windows and doors are of amazing quality and have increased equity of our home. Armored Impact was very professional at all times and I cannot thank them enough for the amazing communication they provided through this journey. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking to upgrade their windows and doors!"

Egress Windows questions, answered by experts

Because egress windows are meant for emergency exiting and entering, they need to be an accessible size. The smallest an egress window is allowed to be is 15 inches in width and height, with an opening of around 4 square feet.

Depending on size, material, and labor, two windows can cost between $600 and $1,600.

Most professionals can install a window well in two to three days, depending on the size of the well and the window you want inside it. If you’re just replacing an existing window well, the work is much less intensive, and most experts can get the job done in just one day. Connecting the window well to a drainage system or installing a custom concrete window well will naturally take longer, but even the most complicated installations shouldn’t take more than three days.

Yes, egress windows are grandfathered. However, this comes with some specifications. If you are remodeling a basement or adding a sleeping area, you’ll need to update the egress windows to be up to proper code. But, if you’re leaving your home as is, you do not have to adhere to these requirements.

Most modern egress windows installed in basements open outward into a window well, although some older homes have in-swing windows. Egress windows, like casement windows used in other parts of the home, such as bedrooms and bathrooms, may open inward, and these windows are often larger than outward-opening windows.
