"We have used Fabiano and Advanced Quality Power Washing Services for years. They have power washed our roof, our house, and driveway, cleaned our windows - inside and out - and today they came and cleaned our glass bannister. They are reliable and honest. You wonâ t be disappointed if you hire them."

"I recently hired Ryan and Slippery Sailors for a Roof Cleaning. It was looking pretty bad with a buildup of dirt and mold. I had two major concerns, one being the age of my aging roof and the other being the landscaping which we had invested quite a bit of money in. In the past companies said they could protect the landscaping, but they did not. Ryan assured me that not only would the roof look amazing but that the process he was using would preserve my landscaping. He was right on both counts! The process he used on the roof was very tedious, but he assured me he wanted to make sure we were completely satisfied! I highly recommend Ryan and Slippery Sailors Roof Cleaning for your next project"

Customers say: True professional

"He came by within the hour in the evening, ran to a famous home appliance store to get the part, fixed my door, and then fixed my storm door which I did not even ask him to. Efficient, polite, pleasant, clean, wore a mask the whole time. Would definitely recommend it."

Small jobs welcome

"I hired BM Services in January to power wash the exterior of my property. I was told the job would take about two hours and that the technician would arrive at 7:00 a.m. — which I honestly doubted since it was 38 degrees in South Florida that morning! To my surprise, the technician arrived at 6:50 a.m., fully prepared and ready to work. He did an outstanding job cleaning the exterior of my property and even went above and beyond by cleaning additional surfaces that weren’t part of our original agreement. He was professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to give helpful recommendations for future services. I was extremely impressed with the quality of work and will definitely be using BM Services again. Highly recommend!"

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

As with patios, there are many types of deck choices to choose from to add personalization to your home. Some common deck options include:

  • Attached decks are anchored to the home and include simple ground-level options or multi-level structures with stairways and separate landings.

  • Detached island decks are not attached to the home; they’re a freestanding structure in the yard.

  • Wraparound decks connect the back of the house with at least one other side and often are built with railings for safety.

  • Multi-level decks connect your deck through varying levels of elevation, featuring landings that are attached to stairs.

You should refinish your deck to maintain its appearance, durability, and longevity. Refinishing your deck protects the wood from foot traffic and the elements. It also helps extend its life span by keeping rot, mildew, and termites at bay. By maintaining your deck, you can avoid the cost of replacing your deck sooner. A refinished deck also looks great and restores some of its original beauty.

The best way to sand a deck is by cleaning it, sanding the boards and stairs with 60- or 80-grit sandpaper, and sanding the railings and posts with 80-grit sandpaper. You should sand in the direction of the wood grain to avoid damaging the timber. When sanding your deck, use medium pressure and aim for an even sand. Pressing too hard with a sander can damage decks, as most are softwoods.

No, it isn’t necessary to skirt a deck, but investing in the cost to install deck skirting can bring more value to your home. Not only does deck skirting make the deck look more complete, but it can also turn otherwise unused space beneath the deck into useful storage space.

Most building codes require that railing spindles (also known as balusters) on decks or stairs be spaced no more than four inches apart. This safety standard is often called the '4-inch sphere rule,' which means a sphere with a 4-inch diameter should not be able to pass through the opening between balusters. This rule is in place to prevent small children and pets from slipping through the railing. For the same reason, the space between the bottom rail and the deck or floor surface should also be no more than four inches. As a general guideline, professionals often install three balusters per foot of railing. However, since specific requirements can vary by location, it is essential to check your local building codes to ensure compliance before starting your project.
