"We hired Window Depot in 2021 to replace all our windows , French doors , sliding doors with Hurricane glass PGT. From sales, communication ( many steps from start to finish /this was important )quality of the windows and doors, team of experienced and qualified installers(cleaning up after each step of the installation process) we would recommend this company-with 5 * We are amazed how quiet our home is and how the quality of the products stand out. This Company did such a wonderful job from start to finish * passing inspection with flying colors. "I just want to say Andres, owner of Rolam Glass is a straight up, polite person. Our tempered glass in one of our barn doors shattered. Our intent was to replace it. Andres quoted me a price for exactly that work. However, the type of white frosted glass to match other door is from China. US made frosted temper has a different hue. When Andres arrived with the glass, we found that out. What Andres did was just amazing. He came back the next day with an exact match barn door and glass. He bought the door and did not charge me because he felt compelled to override the cost because of the delay in completing our project. In this day and age of price gouging and greed, Andres proved he does business to make every client happy. Without question, hire Rolam Glass.! Absolutely no worry about dishonesty or shoddy work. Genuine for sure. Tom K. In Tampa"

"My experience with Suncoast was great. John and owner and Jake my salesman were on top of everything and care about their work. I had them replace three gables, add a door to my backyard, and replace two thirds of my windows so far. Everything has been excellent, and I will definitely have them back to complete the rest of my windows later this year. I can also add that I shopped around on price with five or six different window companies before deciding on Suncoast. Their prices are very good, and they perform excellent workmanship."

Window Door Contractors FAQs, answered by experts

Yes, you can replace the screen without removing the door in most cases depending on the frame holding the screen. Doors with removable spline and screen frames make it a snap to replace the mesh while the door remains in place. The best part is that it’s a simple DIY project requiring a few tools in addition to the screen material.

The screen material you choose depends on your needs. Here are some differences to consider:

  • Fiberglass is the least expensive but needs replacing more often.

  • Aluminum suits almost any job and doesn’t stretch as easily as fiberglass.

  • Pet-resistant screens are more expensive than fiberglass or aluminum, but they’re also wind and weather-resistant.

  • Metal screens, like stainless steel, are the most expensive material for rescreening your porch or sunroom. However, they last for years and are golf ball-resistant.

The average cost to repair a window is about $400, with prices typically ranging from $175 to $1,500. The final cost is influenced by several factors, including:

  • Number of Panes: Single-pane repairs average around $200, double-pane repairs range from $200 to $400, and triple-pane repairs can cost $600 to $1,100.

  • Type of Repair: Minor fixes for a track, seal, or sash are more affordable than repairs for broken glass or window frames, which are typically the most expensive.

  • Window Details: The size, type, and material of the window affect the price.

  • Accessibility: Windows on upper floors or in hard-to-reach locations may increase labor costs.

  • Other Factors: The extent of the damage, local labor rates, and the need for emergency service will also impact the total cost.

For comparison, a full window replacement can range from $175 to $1,800 or more for high-end materials or large windows like bay or bow windows.

Window repairs cost $175 to $615, depending on the type of repair. Because double-hung windows have two sashes and multiple pieces of hardware, like locks and handles, there are many parts that can break over time. Repairing locks, latches, or other hardware costs about $75 to $200 and is easy to DIY. Fixing one or multiple sashes costs about $200 to $600.

No, it’s not safe to leave a doggy door open. It might be more convenient, especially at night when you just want to lay in bed. However, when you leave it open, it increases the chance of other critters getting in without your knowledge. Also, it leaves your pup unsupervised for hours at a time.
