"Shane the owner of Pristine Green is a very fine young man. He is following in his fathers footsteps who ran a successful irrigation business for many years. Dad certainly instilled into him some wonderful old fashion values that are very evident. He is a man of integrity, who treats you like family. His company is very fair with their pricing and the workmanship is outstanding. Pristine Green is like a breath of fresh air , this is the way all businesses should be run. "We called with an emergency repair need due to a major leak in our sprinkler water line that caused us to shut off main water supply to the house. This was on a holiday and Pacific was able to get their tech Mason out that day who promptly found the issue and repaired it. I would highly recommend Pacific Lawn Sprinklers for your lawn irrigation system needs. They will now perform all of my system repairs in the future."

Small jobs welcome

"In a panic after digging out a big plant and breaking a feeder line to the irrigation for a large part of my garden, I made a few blind calls and Misael called me back, said he could be at my house that day (after being ignored by the company who installed the system after three calls!). He came on time, did the repair, checked the whole system, did a few other small fixes, and charged a very, very fair price. He was polite, professional and very thorough. We are very pleased to say we have a new irrigation company: H. I. M. Irrigation! Thank you, Misael!"

Lawn Irrigation FAQs, answered by experts

Choosing the right grass seed and planting it at the right time are the most important factors in establishing fast-growing grass. You also need adequate water, sunshine, and nutrients. To speed up the growth process, you can implement some tips and tricks, including watering it deeply and frequently, and using an iron-rich fertilizer to boost its appearance.

Thorough soil preparation, spreading seeds evenly, and consistent watering are essential for successful grass establishment.

First, you should figure out whether you have dormant or dead grass. Dead grass won’t come back, so you’ll have to reseed if you’re hoping for a lush lawn. However, grass can go dormant if it hasn’t received enough water or if temperatures are too cold. If it’s still decently warm outside, you can revive dormant grass by watering it. But if it’s mid-January in New England, for example, you’ll need to wait until the weather warms up again. If you want to keep grass green in winter, consider a grass like Kentucky bluegrass, which maintains its color year-round.

The best time to plant grass seed depends on your local climate and whether you have cool-season or warm-season grass.

For cool-season grasses (like tall fescue), the ideal time to seed is late summer or early fall (typically August and September). During this period, the soil is still warm from the summer, but the air is cooler, creating optimal conditions for germination and root establishment before winter. There is also less competition from weeds. Spring is a secondary option, but cooler soil temperatures, the risk of a late frost, and less time for the grass to mature before summer heat can make it less successful.

For warm-season grasses (like St. Augustine), the best time to plant is from late spring through mid-summer (typically May and June), when temperatures are consistently between 75 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

In general, it is best to avoid seeding during winter or early spring, as cold soil and air can prevent seeds from germinating. For recommendations tailored to your specific grass type and climate, consider consulting a local lawn care professional.

For optimal results, water newly planted grass seed at least twice a day—once in the morning and again in the late afternoon. The goal is to keep the soil consistently moist for the first two weeks, but be careful not to overwater or flood the seeds. After about two weeks, you can reduce the frequency to once per day. Always monitor weather conditions and adjust your watering schedule accordingly; for instance, you won't need to water as much if it rains.
