"F.H.I. owner Blake came out to inspect my home under very trying circumstances for me. He is a kind and generous man. He spent a few hours with me. Blake explained everything to me the whole way. Because of the extensive damage to my home I was very worried about FEMA helping me. Blake was very reassuring when I was in an emotional state. I could have not asked for more. Blake did not rush this job. He took pictures, took mold test examples. Because of the mold in my house I had to keep moving my things to the center of house. I had been without water for a while. As a result my house was a wreck. I was so embarrassed. Blake acted like he did not even notice. He was thorough. He went above and beyond. I cannot say enough to give him (and Erin) the credit they deserve. Erin his receptionist is kind and compassionate. They were exactly what I needed at a most trying and emotional time. I highly recommend F.H.I. Being a single woman he could have easily taken advantage of my ignorance in matters such as these. Blake did not do that when so many others have. My gratitude is immeasurable. I think F.H.I. should be anyone's first call. True professionals who also have the attribute of kindness and compassion and honesty, something I'd thought lost in this day and age. My thanks forever. he went above and beyond on something no one else would touch. Karen C."

The EPA Renovation, Repair, and Painting Final Rule (RRP Rule) requires that on a home built before 1978, if you disturb more than 20 sq ft of exterior paint or more than 6 sq ft in any interior room the disturbed painted surfaces must be checked for lead based paint. This law affects remodelers, painters, plumbers, roofers, window replacers, kitchen cabinet replacers, or any trade that disturbs paint while working.\n\nAt Lead Paint Solutions, LLC, we use a state of the art, nondestructive XRF analyzer to not only identify lead paint, but also measure the volume of lead in the paint. EPA defines lead paint as paint that has 5% lead by weight or 1 milligram per square centimeter. Knowing the exact amount of lead in your paint and comparing it to the EPA allowable amount, rather than simply saying it has lead in it will oftentimes determine that there is not enough lead in the paint to trigger expensive lead safe construction practices. Lead Testing and Removal questions, answered by experts

A professional indoor air quality inspection takes anywhere from one to three hours, depending on the size of your home and the number of necessary samples. After the test, the specialist will discuss the findings, but you won’t get a full written report for 2 to 10 days, though you can ask your pro to expedite the process, if needed.

You can sell a house with lead paint, but there are several requirements. If you are aware that lead paint exists anywhere in the home, you must disclose that to potential buyers. Required home inspections will often uncover lead paint, especially for older houses where lead paint may still be a problem. If you have taken steps to encapsulate lead, you should provide buyers with full documentation of the project so it won’t cause any problems later on.

Some of the signs that could mean your water is contaminated, such as cloudiness or bubbliness, could also be non-problems that don’t affect your water’s potability. However, if your water smells or tastes strange, it’s a good idea to stop drinking it and test it immediately. If your well water is contaminated, the best way to discover that is to test it.

No, a standard home inspection includes the basics and does not offer lead paint testing. Professional lead paint inspectors need specific licenses to perform these inspections, which not all home inspectors have. If you suspect lead paint in the home you are about to purchase, you will need to pay separately to have that done. If the findings come back positive, you may be able to negotiate with the buyer to cover the cost of the removal.

Lead testing prior to purchasing a property ensures that the new owners are informed about potential hazards, prevents health risks associated with lead poisoning, and facilitates timely remediation.
