"Excellent! They changed a potential disaster into a gorgeous new fireplace. A simple chimney cap leak turned out to be a total chimney replacement from ground to roof. Nick coordinated the work of all the various contractors needed: exterior chimney wall, gas lines/logs, gas tanks, electric, and interior fireplace tilework. And yes, also replaced the entire leaking chimney, including a stainless steel cap (no more leaks). Great job! ...highly recommended."

"Denis Dougherty of Philadelphia Brick & Stone Pointing worked over the weekend to fix the chimney that was causing leaks on rainy days and he fixed some sagging bricks. I was away when he worked on them but everything was fixed when I came back. It's been a few months now and still no leaks even with heavy rain."

"They did an excellent job, very quality work and were very thorough...not stopping until all water damage was found. They replaced entire walls, built a new chimney, window, flashing, and gutters..all with a pristine painting condition. You will not find a contractor that takes more pride in his work than Arthur. Very dependable and deligent in completing a high quality job. We can't thank them enough!"

"They did a great job. They solved all the problems I had with the chimney and it’s been working perfectly ever since. They also fixed a problem on the roof around the chimney; they replaced the wood around the chimney with a material that would never rot, so they fixed it even better than it was before. It took them a couple of days to do the work. They took care of all the cleanup as well. We've been real happy with them."

"I've dealt with many roofing companies in the past, and First Coast has to be the best I've worked with so far. They are extremely honest, and will come out and help you with your issue as soon as they are able. I called many companies when we found a leak in our house, as we're new to the city and didn't have any references. However, First Coast should excellent customer service on the phone, provided the quickest estimate, and I could easily tell they knew exactly what they were doing. A lot of the other companies seemed to not really prioritize our leak, since it wasn't a "full re-roof" yet, but when I do need a roof in a few years, I know now exactly who I'll be calling. I've already scheduled them to install gutters now as well.
HIGHLY recommended. I know roofing can be scary, but Ed and his team are fantastic.

"Everything went great! The project took about 2 weeks. The old tar/gravel roof was removed and a new metal roof was installed on 3/4 of the house. The other 1/4 required TPO since it was a completely flat area. A lot of the old wood had to be replaced due to the age and termite activity. Flashing up around the chimney is holding up great and a part of my old rainwater collection gutter system was even reinstalled on the new roof. The fascia and soffit looks great too. We've been through 5-6 rain storms already and there has been no leaks. The wood around the garage was replaced and then the whole thing was wrapped in vinyl for a clean look. Two end features on the peak of the house were wrapped as well and it made the house look very clean and neat. As for cleanup, for the most part all went well. As can be expected, a few old roofing nails were found, but not that many. A few short pieces of metal roofing and a few leftover panels were left behind as well as a bag of screws. (We made a shed with them) Overall we were very satisfied. Other roofing companies we called were quoting us $18-20K without the addition of the extra wood and the cost of the fascia/soffit or the garage repair."
All of the doors and windows were replaced by National HomeCraft.

"The crew arrived on time, made the repairs I had contracted for, explained what they were doing along the way, and left the job neat and clean. Of 4 chimney contractors I had bid on this repair job, L D Phillips was the only one who could do the complete work needed. Very satisfied."

"Good as old? You cannot tell that we had the wall replaced - it blends perfectly with the original brick work. While he was there, we also contracted with James to do a brick cove cover on our fireplace chimney - it looks amazing and he restored some of the damaged brick/mortar around the top of the chimney"

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

Smooth galvanized metal ducting is best and safest for venting a hood range. It’s best to avoid flexible and corrugated types of ducting, as these options don’t provide ample airflow and may not meet local code. For specific advice on which type of duct might be best for your kitchen, reach out to a range hood installation professional.

No, range hoods do not necessarily have to be vented outside. Ductless or non-vented range hoods are available, which are common in condos or small kitchens where connecting to external ductwork isn't feasible. These hoods operate by taking in air, filtering it through charcoal filters to help eliminate smoke and odors, and then recirculating the cleaned air back into the kitchen. However, while these recirculating hoods are more versatile, venting to the outside is still the preferred and more effective method for completely removing smoke, odors, and gases from the room.

Yes, professionals can often retrofit models with minimal disruption.

You should contact a local range hood installation professional to install your range hood and do the ductwork. Prices range from $50 to $100 per hour, with the total number of hours required varying based on the project complexity. Simple installations might take an hour or two, while more complicated ones can take four hours or more.

Ensures safe electrical connections and proper venting, improving kitchen air quality.
