"The service tech who serviced my central air conditioning unit on 7/16/21 was Nick with Florida Home Air Conditioning. Nick was professional and very knowledgeable about what needed to be done. And â ¦ he was respectful and mannerable which I appreciated. If I could, I would request Nick for all of my air conditioning maintenance needs. Regards. A. Brady"

"The Technicians were very professional and through. All work and clean-up done very well. I only had a few notes worth mentioning regarding optional inside health services not mention during original meeting with Sale Rep and Technicians not knowing final payment requirement from customer. Other than that everything else was very good just a little shore of excellent!!!!"

"Highly recommend CJ Vickers of Nassau Duct Cleaning who cleaned our dryer duct this morning. Best we’ve ever used anywhere we’ve lived. Showed up 5 minutes early. Very polite & professional. Used a camera to first scope the duct for any breaks, gaps, or obstructions. Cleaned the duct & dryer, & surrounding area then put everything back in place. They do more than dryer vents. Highly recommend. Nassau Duct Cleaning (CJ Vickers) (904) 753-1682 (904) 654-8403"

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Most HVAC surge protectors last about three to five years, depending on how often your home experiences blackouts or brownouts. If your unit is susceptible to more frequent electrical surges, consider replacing your surge protector every two years. Consult your HVAC professional to determine when and how often to replace your HVAC surge protectors.

During the summer, it’s best to set your AC to 78 degrees when you’re home and awake, according to the Department of Energy (DOE). For better energy efficiency, raise the temperature slightly to 85 degrees while you’re out of the house. The National Sleep Foundation advises lowering your thermostat to between 60 and 67 degrees when you’re asleep.

Many factors affect how much adding air conditioning will cost you, from the size of your home to the size, type, brand, and installation specifics of the system itself. Chances are, a new central air conditioning system for a 2,000-square-foot house will cost somewhere between $3,900 and $7,900 to install, with an average around $6,000

Whether an HVAC damper should be open or closed depends on the season, the zone it controls, and the temperature in that zone. In the summer, open upstairs dampers and close lower-level dampers to get the most efficient cooling possible. In the winter, do the opposite. Cool air will naturally flow down to lower levels, while warm air will rise. This keeps your system from working harder and helps prevent common AC problems.

The cost to replace an AC evaporator coil is typically between $600 and $2,500, with an average cost around $1,300 to $1,350. The price of the coil itself can range from $550 to $1,100, depending on the brand, size, and style, with professional labor adding around $700. Replacing a condenser coil is generally less expensive, costing about $800. Because this repair involves handling refrigerants, it requires a licensed AC professional. Regular inspections, which cost between $200 and $600, can help prevent costly coil replacements.
